Post Best Tire Combination

I have a 1979 930 with 16" Fuchs on it right now. Currently I have 225/50 in front and 245/45 in the rear. I have been reading about owners putting as wide as 315's in the back! Do you have to roll the fenders for this and what size rims work best for this (17's assuming)?

Thanks for any information.

I have an '87 930 with stock Fuch rims and looking to install larger 17'. I was at a local Porsche specialist [Steinel's] and saw a car '85 930 in there for servicing and he was running 315 tires on the rear without rolling the fender. Because he was using 235 x 17 on the front he advised me that he had to roll the front fenders, which was done pretty easily. The only caution is the possibility of paint cracking when the roll is done.

I run 315/35/17 on 11x17 rear wheels with no rubbing and no modifications. On the front I run 245/35/17 with no rubbing and no modifications. You may need to remove the oil cooler protector thing in the right hand wheel well or cut it back slightly. It is a big metal bar the protrudes into the wheelwell. I didn't have to do that, but I've seen others that have. Also, my car is lowered to 24.5" front, 25" rear when measured along the centerline of the wheels.
