Angry twin exhaust too loud

The 4" twin outlet B&B mufflers are great on the short jaunts and all out acceleration, but I just finished an eight hour trip and my ears are ringing. The sound is great, but it is loud. I am sure that most of this is the B&B headers. Without sacrificing performance, are there any other muffler options available? Maybe dual 3"?

If you want try to cap a side off from the in side, like the drivers side and run single 4 inch. That should tone it down and when you want to kick it up a couple of notches un-plug it.I think the 4inch and the 3s are the same, just the tips are different.Just my 2 cents.

I suppose its too much to ask to hear my radio while driving, and that I should go to a concert if I want to hear music. The combination of the B&B headers and the muffler is loud since I do not have cats or heat exchangers. People in their yards stop what they are doing when I drive by. I never said that I did not like it, just that it is physically deafening for long periods of time, especially in those rare times when the family does ride along. Any other suggestions. Does anybody make a chambered exhaust?
thanks

I don't know if there is anything you can do short of replacing the muffler. I kept my B&B single tip 3" for just that reason. 4th gear sound is not too bad.....but I agree, you can just about forget listening to the radio......good luck

I had a double-outlet (on both sides) Borla on my modified '86. It was fun sounding like a hot rod in town, but on the highway the noise and especially the resonance (annoying vibration sound) made it no fun at all. I finally put my single-outlet Borla (exiting on the driver's side only) back on. It's plenty loud when you get on it, it pops great, and best of all has no resonance on the highway.
If I ever twin turbo the car, I'll look into having just straight pipes (or maybe straight motorcycle-type mufflers)coming out of the turbos, that should be cool. Maybe the twin turbos would quiet down the sound enough to make that possible. But at this point, only on the wish list.

Question

How about the GHL mufflers? Would they be quieter on the open road? I am not quite sure if they would bolt up to the B&B headers.

I dont know what to say, but an 8 hour trip in a 930????!!!!!! U are very brave and should be awarded. I go on weekend drives on mountain roads which takes 4 hour round trip with the engine near redline at ALL times with my 4"B&B twins blasting and i cant complain.

I have aftermarket stereo and speakers, and believe it or not, i listen to them when im chasing down other porsches, M3s.... I had this B&B mufflers w/euro headers for 4 years now and cant say they are too loud for me. I love to go to a mall garage and set off alarms. See kids' dads turn around and look at me when they are MOWING their lawn. But when i get back from a nice dinner or coming back from a exhausting mountain drive, YES!! I wish the exhaust has a mute button, but then, even the stock one with cats cant achieve that. SO, i learn to appreciate what i have now.......
