Post tire talk

Hey Everyone, The time has come for new tires on the 930.My mechanic can't say enough about kumho v700 competition tires. Great for autocross and driver ed.Also perfectly fine for the street. However, the local Town Fair Tire guy doesn't like them on my car at all, says I should stay with Perelli or Michelen.
Also, the 265/45 16's I am looking at for the back are about 7/10 of an inch taller than the factory size tire I have now, How will the size difference affect the speedo and tach?
I plan on quite a few autocrosses, and maybe a couple d.e. events this year. I don't want to screw up with the wrong tires. thanks in advance.

Indeed those are good tires for DE, tracking and autox, but not street. You'd wear them out in 5,000 miles. Excellent choice if you have two sets of wheels. Besides Pirelli and Mich's check out Bridgestone S0-3's. I had the So2 and now '3s on my 930. Very happy in dry and wet conditions.

Are you sure the tire size is 265/45/16 and not 245/45/16? Personally I like the Dunlop sport 8000's, good grip, good price.

Another good thing about the Kumhos is the availability of sizes. They come in 255 and 265 for 9 inch wheels. Check www.Tirerack.com

The rear tires on my car are 1" taller diameter than stock and my speedometer is dead on according to my GPS. When I sent my gauges out for coloring, North Hollywood Speedometer told me that the speedometer reads high from the factory hench the reason mine reads accurately.
