It turns out black 77 is here in Bozeman, if any one wants me to have a peak at car PM or email me. Also there is a very good local Porsche wrench.

I have a regularly aspirated 1978 Sienna Metallic 911. Agree that the color technically wasn't offered in 1978 so don't know if this was an early car or special order. It's a neat color and very unusual. I'd love to find a way to get a matching 1978 turbo.

I cannot believe this car is at 62k with 2 days left on the auction. Unless there is shill bidding going on, this market frenzy on 930's (really all air-cooled turbos) is just incredible.

Well not too many to be begin with and very few left this nice. I think Porsche's folks tend to sell the turbo's short- this was Porsche's first supercar, they have achieved iconic status. $60k will get you nice T or a RSA - not that outrageous, ebay cars typically sell under market.

I'm wondering what it'll close at. There has been no movement for about 4 days, so I think there will be a frenzy right at close. Maybe $75k?

ebay is funny - you just never can predict what will happen at end of auction. If there are at least two people that want car it can be exciting at end.

Or the seller has a friend bidding on the item spiking the price..all kinds of tricks are done. I visited a store once that had multiple items on eBay...they had a back room where 2 individuals were bidding on the items the store had up on eBay. The kicker, one of the individuals was a cop still in uniform..putting in a little ot for extra cash...I just shook my head and laughed..I couldn't believe what I was seeing..many tricks to be pulled.

Caveat Emptor for anything you buy on eBay. I learned very early on eBay that you only place a maximum bid price you are willing to pay (shill bidding becomes less relevant). I doubt there’s a shill bid at $62K. I’ve been searching 3-ltr turbos on eBay for at least the last 3 years and this is the first example I’ve seen that was not listed as a “buy-it-now” with this seller being patient running a full auction. Truly amazing and perhaps an indication of the very high attrition rate and just how seldom sellers follow true market value for these cars (ignore the Excellence Porsche Buyer’s guide).

I know the guy with the 77, the auction is legit. To be honest I don't think most ebay cars even sell at full market value. He is probably using ebay for the same reason I do - it ain't easy selling a Porsche in the middle of MT, there just are not many local buyers well one- and my garage is full. I did not see where reserve was met, anyone catch that, my guess is seller is pleasantly surprised by strength of market. There are just not that many 76-77 turbo Carrera's that hit the open market anymore. Anyway I know a little more about car if anyone is considering the purchasing drop me a line.

Truth is eBay gives you the most exposure. When I sold my previous cars, eBay turned out to be my best option. Both were bought sight unseen and both sellers were happy with their purchase. Everywhere else I listed the car all I got were virtual tire kickers. It was a little frustrating when someone would call arranging a day to see the car only they would not show up. With ebay you may get people who are a little more serious about a purchase thus eliminating the virtual tire kickers..

Ebay is a Great way to sell a Car, but there fees are steep, minimal charge the first time you run it, but when you re list or have sold one, the next time around it's $80+ to run again, maybe more, it been a long time since I've listed one..

Fairly certain there are lots of folks worldwide looking for 3.0 cars....with an hour to go, and being this is a 'solid' example and auction is legit, I am calling for north of $110k sale price
