Leffingwell's book has a turbo at 185/70/15 and 215/60/15, with optional sizes 205/55 and 215/60. A 77 has 205/55/16 and 225/50/16.

WPOZZZ is correct on '77s - they came with 16" rims and were fitted with 205/55/16 in front and 225/50/16 in rear.

For optional tires, his book conflicts with the Porsche factory manuals. For '75/76 930's, Pirelli P7's were only available for RoW:

215/60 VR 15 and 185/70/15 tires (Pirelli CN36 optional) with gearbox type 930/30

225/50 VR 15 and 205/50 VR 15 tires (Pirelli P7's, M395) with gearbox type 930/32 (for '76, 930/30.12, limited slip) - different KPH speedo for Pirelli P7's

Not sure about the tubes, but the top photo is Car and Driver.

I put in a call to Alan Johnson to see if he remembers.

wow they went to all the trouble of hand welding the flaires on only to use 215 tires. Stock sized tires must feel really lonely in their ovesized homes!

Seems it was the US only, as ROW cars had bigger tires.

Considering a 1975 Lamborghini Countach had 205/70/14 front and 215/70/14 rear, Porsche was ahead of the curve. The Lambo had 375hp at that time also.

For ‘75/76 930’s, Dunlop tires were standard with Pirelli CN36 tires as an option (185 front, 215 rear) with wider low profile P7’s as an option for RoW only (215 front, 225 rear). At that time, larger street tires were not available for 15 inch rims but the 930 flares (lateral base sections widened by welded-in sections - 1700 mm at front and 1775 mm at rear) were needed for homologation purposes so that much wider racing wheels & tires could be fitted for 934s and 935s. The 930 used 21 mm thick spacers at the front and 28 mm spaces at the rear mounted between the rim and hub to fill out the arches.
