Post Wheels for my '87 930

I have a beautiful black/black 930 and am looking for a different wheel than the standard Fuchs. I thoroughly like the Fuch wheels but would like to try a different look. I have been looking at wheels for some time and cannot seem to find the right combination for the car. To me the wheels must match the look of the car, if that makes any sense. I have looked at wheels by AT Italia, specifically the 5 Razze. I like the simplistic look and clean lines of the wheel, but I am not sure if they are of good quality. I would appreciate hearing from others who may have information on the 5 Razze wheels. Also, what wheels others have used that I may want to consider.

Hi Lou - I also have the stock fuchs on my 930. I have seen several 930s use the 993 style wheels. I think this is a nice clean look thats stays within the Porsche family while updating the car. You can often find 993 wheels for sale on eBay (or in the rennlist classifieds) as many people upgrade them to something more. I believe the standard 993 rim was 16"?

I went through the exact same thing a while back. I wanted a different look but I didn't want to spend the $2500+ for Fikse or Kinesis. I looked into the 993 wheels both factory and aftermarket and didn't like the idea of adding more spacers or running a super deep hub (aftermarket solution).

I stumbled across ROH wheels on the net. I asked around on the net and talked with people who have used them on the track without any problems and decided they might be the solution I was looking for. They aren't as light as the Fuchs or forged wheels but they are lighter than the aftermarket Porsche knockoffs.

The best part, they are around $250 each!

Here's a link to my site with my 930 using ROH wheels. Mark's web page

I went with the 7.5" fronts and 9.5" rears with 225/45x17 Sumitomos on the fronts and 275/40x17 Sumitomo on the rears.

Here's a link to where I bought them. JD Wheels

I am more of a purist when it comes to wheel selection - which only means I favor the look Porsche has given to its wheels. The RS/Supercup wheels are available in 17" and 18". They have the classic look and are part of the Porsche image. Nice chrome rim with flat finish on the spokes. Kinesis and RH manufacture this wheel - both are high quality.

I understand agree about the purist ideals but if you want to take that to it's logical conclusion then putting 993 or 964 designs on a 911/930 is incorrect

What I liked about the ROH was their similarity to the 5 spoke Porsche design.

Looks pretty close and at $220 for 7.5x17 and $250 for 9.5x17 it's a real viable alternative. IMHO.

Mark, how much do those ROH wheels weigh each? I have the Millie Cup C2Turbo replicas on my 930, and they weigh a TON! Looking for a cheap alternative! Of course, if I could find some Speedline 3 piece for the same price I'd go for those!!!

I think they weigh something like 18 lb for the 7.5s and 21 lbs for the 9.5s if memory serves. They're probably not a whole lot lighter than your C2T relicas but they are about 2 lbs lighter than the RUF Speedlines.

If you want light then you have to stick with Fuchs, Fikse, Kinesis, Forgeline or BBS.

Weight wasn't as much a concern as strength. ROH has a good history of durablity. These are made in Australia and they have a fairly tough regulatory agency modeled more along the lines of TUV snd they pass those standards. ROH is a major OEM supplier in Australia. That meant a lot to me. (disclaimer, I'm not associated with ROH or their importer, I just did some research before I bought them)

Louis, I have a 1989 / 930 and I decided to go with the 1994 3 piece 3.6 Turbo Wheel that Porsche had that year. These are aftermarket, but they look great. No spacers needed and are lighter than the factory Fuchs. I thoght about the 993 wheels but since these was a turbo wheel from the factory, it seemed more of a match.
