Brake Pads - 101...

I have mintex blues on the car. they work better when heated up,if you are just driving it on the streets i would go with the reds. I use the blues because i do a track event every now and then. I also flushed the the system and put in Motul 600 fluid. seems to work well!!

Rick,
I use Performance Friction Z-Rated carbon fiber pads. They work great around town and hold up well in the 1 or 2 DEs I do a year and they are rotor friendly I also use ATE Blue fluid and SS brake lines. I'm very happy with the performance.

Rick,
They are a little noisy when they are hot and you apply them lightly. It's not the same loud noise that many of the racing pads make but it's still there. Under hard braking they are silent.
In normal use they produce very little dust. At the track they make a carbon dust that seems easier to clean than non carbon pads.

I have 930 brakes on my 911SC. For street usage I use Axxis Metalmasters, with antisqueel pads stuck to the back of the front pads. Works great. For track I use Pagid Oranges. They redefine the meaning of squeel, but they work wonderfully for track usage. Before switching to 930 brakes, I had used the Performance Friction Z-rated pads, and they were a very good combination street/track pad. As mentioned by others, fresh brake fluid is important to a good running brake system. If your brake hoses are over 10 years old, you should replace them, as they can swell internally over time, causing the pistons to not retract properly.
