Buying a 930 ..help
I'm currently looking for a 930 and need some help/opinions and etc.
Main question I guess is should you rather buy a car that is pretty much stock or something that was already rebuilt? What is the thought on this car

or

or
there is a 1987 with a complete overhaul from suspension to engine to transmission. Pelican member that goes by CaptainCalf
This car is in the $50k range
Any help would be very much appreciated, ever since I passed up a 930 back in 2002 I have always wondered what it so it is time to make a move. The funny thing is I wish I would have bought it back then since it was half the current prices.
Thank you

It all depends what you want out of the 930 experience. Do you want the 930 in it's purest form, or do you want a rip snorting beast that'll kick your ***? If you want the original 930, get a stock one. If you want the wild ride, you can get a modded one that suits your needs. Just make sure the work was done by someone competent and of course, get a PPI.
If you really want to, you can start with a stock car and mod it to your heart's content, but that slippery slope gets really expensive. My experience is to get a modded car that is well cared for as you pay pennies on the dollar for the mods. That being said, I would get the black car on Pelican, eventhough I hate caring for black cars.

Ahhh....a man after my own heart. Modify is my middle name.
Personally, I would buy a stock car (supposedly never been modified, but who knows what was "put back on" before the PO sold it?). Drive it a bit, get used to it, learn to love it, then yearn to have mo'powa!
Then start picking up the bits and pieces to do bolt-on modifications....all easily reversible. If you ever sell, then take the mods off if that's where the best buyers market is, and re-sell the bits and pieces to recoup your investment.
But if resale value isn't a big issue and you plan to keep the car until you die, then buy one that's been modded to your liking. When I bought mine, I had no plans or even any thoughts about modifying....until I started learning about the benefits and got bitten with the bug.

I too am wondering what you are expecting to "feel" with the 930. When I bought my 930 I thought it was broken. I was shifting gears at 3,000 rpms and swore a China man on a bicycle could beat me to the next light. So, I called a Porsche buddy in tears telling him I made the biggest mistake buying the car. He then informed me to point the car in a straight line put the petal on the floor and wait.
Holy ****, I still love this car nearly ten years later, but I wonder what a twin turbo would feel like. . .
If you want a rocket ship off the line, this is not your car, but if you want to put a smile on your face everytime you have the chance to take your car out, this is the one.
Someone help me try to pin point what it is about this car that puts a **** eating smile on your face everytime it spools up and thrusts you into the next gear wondering if you have enough road to try to wind through the next gears waiting to test your manhood. . .

I also agree with the "easy" mods. My car was bone stock. I upgraded to a B&B intercooler, FabSpeed dual exhaust and a 1 BAR spring. It kicks in at 3100 instead of 3400 and sounds killer.
I kept the factory parts for the next owner, if there will ever be one.

This one belongs to a member over on Pelican(though not listed there)
mildly modified. It's a Euro model which I like.
