Default Need exaust help

My friend has an 86 930 that had abount 12,000 original miles when she got it. I do all of my own work on my 96 TT so she asked me to help her learn about her car. Determined it was modded by Andial just after it was originally purchased. Car is amazing. She recently failed CA smog. She said the shop told her it was probably the exhaust. I pulled it and found the cat was guttted. Good for performance, bad for test. Does anyone here have either a stock set up or aftermarket they would part with? If not could someone guide me in the right direction so I can help her. Thanks

I have run into this with a few cars. You can get a universal cat from any parts store. Get it clamped on.
After the test you can remove it to go back to a straight pipe or keep it on.

After you remove it, wipe it down, return to original box, grab receipt & return to store saying; "It didn't fit !"

This is what Ferrari owners would do !

Look on Rockauto.com. They have an Eastern Catalytic brand for about $175. They provide the part number so you can shop around.

There's a RL post here (no affiliation) for an OE cat and exhaust from '87 930:

I made an offer on the cat but they told me they didn't want to split them up

Might have been a tad light

LA dismantlers & other similar companies that advertise in Panorama & Excellence should have them.

Fabspeed makes a competition bypass pipe for this 930, why not just ask them to add a convertor in lieu of the straight pipe. Should be an upcharge for this, but it will be a decent fit/function.

We already do sell a "Supercup" system with a catalytic converter (or 2) in place of the resonator. But we can also make a sport cat that is a direct replacement for the factory.

To the OP, since the car is in California, the owner can send us the gutted part and we can splice in sport cats inside it - this way it will still pass the California visual inspection.
