Post 930 engine identification

Another question sorry, I know my motor is a 3.3 930/66 as it is identified as such on the casings.

However due to the fact that the motor was stolen recovered (bought at a police auction) it is proving dificult to work out the model year.

One thing I have noted is that the oil catch tank for the Turbo is a different shape to all the pictures I have seen of other cars. The tank pictured on most engines is bent into a kinda boomerang shape, mine is straight.

Can anyone in the know help me work out the model year from this, or give me any pointers to working out the year from any other parts.

Again thanks

Barry

I looked up the 3.3 930/66. Bruce Anderson has it listed as a 83-86 "Turbo for rest of world".
Hope this helps.

That's good I believe as the earlier ROW 930 motors had the more robust fuel system.

The car was re-shelled in 83 so if that is correct the motor must have been from a virtualy new car back then.

Anyone have any thoughts on the catch tank shape, all the ones pictured in the porsche PET have the bend in them and mine is straight. I have never seen a picture of another one like it.

Cheers

My 75 ROW 930 motor had a straight tank on the turbo. It was about 10" long
