Thumbs up 3.4L vs. 3.3L P&C's

As I understand it the main advantage of 3.4L pistons is that they are fully finned and would dissipate heat better. The extra .1/6L size increase in each cylinder might also add a tiny bit of power.
Besides the price difference...
Are there other advantages or disadvantages?
Do the case or heads require special machining for 3.4's ?

Nope the 3.4 p&c are just a slip into the crankcase. Advantages: fully finned, more horsepower and torque especially if you go for the 7.5 compression. The Ruf p&c built by Mahle are shortskirt hence lighter.

D: You should make a trip down to the SF Bay Area. I'd be more than happy to let you drive my '89 930 3.4. That way the "seat of your pants" will show you the difference! :-)

The other advantage is the 3.4l pistons from Mahle are available in stock compression 7.1:1 and 7.5:1 ratios. JE offers other combinations as well as custom ones.

D:

Good advice from everyone above,.........I'll second that. These are HIGHLY recommended for all Turbos, even when doing a stock rebuild since the longevity and durability is really improved.

If you do this, use the 7.5:1 ones; hands down.
