Post Where's the Oil Drain Plug?

Hi,
Was attempting my 1st oil change but couldn't find the drain plug on the engine?
I understand I should first drain the oil tank then the engine & the plug on the engine is "horizontally" mounted?
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

thanks...

There were two styles, but on your car the drain plug should be on the drivers side of the motor. About mid way down the motor there is a 15mm plug on the side. This is your drain plug. Earlier models had a different setup. If you need a picture say the word and I will post one.

Don't forget to drain the the big tank on the appanger side too.

My first oil change...I kept wondering why I only got out a few quarts.

Stephen,
Yes please - a picture's worth 1000's words...
And after taking a 3rd look at it, it looks like it "has" to be the aeroquip hose that goes from the bottom of the engine to the turbo charger.
Since I know the PO had done quite a few mods to the car, so this might be another non-factory mod?

PT, I hope that is not true that your turbocharger drain is connected to your oil drain plug. You want the turbocharger to dump oil back to the engine ABOVE the oil level in the engine. In a 911 this is difficult because the turbo is the same level or lower than the oil level in the engine. This is why the factory 911 Turbos have a scavage pump that runs off the left side cam. This PUMPS the oil back to the tank.

I haven't looked close enough yet - will do that later today, but the hose goes to the top of the turbocharge => oil "intake" to the turbo?

ok - mystery solved but looks like there'll be more work ahead

The oil drain plus is connected via the aeroquip hose to the bottom of the turbocharger & I don't see any oil drip tank & scavage pump

Geofrey, do you have any diagram showing how the pump is connected & located and how/where does the oil get returned to the oil tank?

Thanks...

HI Stephen,
Picture indeed worths more than 1,000 words...
Just when I thought I am completely crazy, I confirmed that the drain plug in your diagram is exactly when the PO connects an Aeroquip hose to the turbocharger (on the bottom).
It seems to rely only on gravity to drain oil away from the turbo & no scarvenge pump anywhere
Sounds like time to really look at everything the PO did & for this one, I should probably re-create what the factory originally did?
thanks.
