84 930+mods vs. Stock 03 M3: race?
I'm running an 84+k27+Andial I/C+ 1 bar spring +Air-cone+muffler+twin-plug+ 18x11's rear & stock headers
Sales guy at the office just bought a stock '03 M3, and is talking LOTS of smack.
If push comes to shove, will I be competitive?
-or is 20 years of technology development a little too much to overcome?
Thank you in advance

A new M3 pulled up next to my '78 930 and rev'd his engine. I had to open the window to see hear his engine running. I obliged as well, and very loudly. When the light changed he waved me off. Since my car has the earlier fuel head, the car has lots of go. Enough go off the line, that I jumped ahead of a pesky driver in new vette by eight car lenghts by the time I hit third gear. Your fuel head and exhaust may hold you back a little, but I think you can talk some smack back. You ought to be running in the low 5's (0-60)

Lomotpk,
With your mods and if your engine running correctly with all in place, you should be pulling out anywhere between 350-360 fwhp. Now dont forget our cars are pretty much lighter than the M3. Looking at this in theory in terms of power to weight ratio, Yes you can take it on.

That vintage 930 did 0-60 in 5 flat, dead stock. Considering those mods and the Euro fuel system, it should have plenty of power. If you're going from a dead stop, the launch will determine who wins. If you're going from a roll, you should have no problem beating an M3.

I perfectly agree on the rolling start.
I realize that there have been several threads on the topic, but what would be the short answer to the question:
What's the best, non-clutch frying, launch process?

I have an 82 930 similarly modified and an 03 E46 M3 six speed. The 930 in stock trim would probably beat the M3, with mods, no contest. While the M3 makes impressive HP, it's torque is not very impressive. Overall a very nice car, it's just an apples to oranges situation.

I just got the car in November so I haven't looked for a mechanic yet.
I've met a few South Shore-folk who recommend Kevin over at Raldolph Racing. I was thinking of visiting this weekend, but the weather... you know...
Where do you get your work done?
