Selling a friends '87 930
It's on ebay. This is a nice one, with some awesome mods (like Nirorist rings, 38mm ports, Kokeln turbo, etc).

Hey Bruce, would you be willing to take a look at this car for me? Put it through its paces? Gimme the skinny? Perhaps a PPI?
Im quite interested, but I need a lot more details on the car. VINS match? A/C ice cold? Any prior accidents? Vehicle hsitory. Maintenance receipts? If hed like to sell it to a Rennlister and not some EBay schmuck, perhaps something can be done if the car is honestly and truly the real deal.

Tell you what--I'll talk to Chris about it more. I've briefly mentioned it to him, and although he's maintained it, he didn't do the orginal engine work.
I need to go pick up my car from Chris in the next couple of days or so (depending on when K&N actually delivers a filter I've been waiting on for weeks.)
But I don't know whether that's going to work with the seller's time frame, given that we're near the end of the auction on e-bay, right?

Chris - this a bit academic if the car sells. There is no reserve on John's auction, so whomever the high bidder is tomorrow will have a contract for the car. If you are really interested, I suggest you contact John directly and see if his friend will agree to a post auction PPI and personal inspection right of refusal. I bought an 87 Carrera on eBay using this method and the opwner had no problems with it. If the owner is confident in his car then there should not be an issue.
By the way, driving a 930 2000 miles is a great way to get to know the car

I know. Its so ninth inning on this. To be honest, if the car was a 7 out of 10 or better and the EBAY bid huing around the 25-26K mark, Im almost positive I could sell this car for over 30K very easily in Ohio. Thats a hell of a gamble though. With my luck the car will arrive and not have an engine in it and the photos on EBAY are 10yrs old. Perhaps I will contact them on this but I guess Im a little too late.
I was up in Seattle in March and the drive across the state from Seattle to Spokane was one of the longest four hours in a car Id ever been in. Granted it was in a Chrysler Concorde rent a car. I think I could survive and make fun out of driving it back to Ohio.
How do you go about plating a car like this or getting insurance so at least you can drive it back home w/o getting locked in the slammer for no license plates or proof of insurance.

Nice UD.
Time for me to chime in here a bit. This is a good car owned by a good friend of mine. It has an engine and it runs fine. If you are remotely interested in this you should call Chris Powell at Chris's German Auto in Bellevue WA. He is an ex 935 race mechanic and has a very good rep in the PacNW. This car has a couple of small paint chips and needs a window motor. Otherwise I think it is solid.
I think one or two people on this board know me and would trust my comments. I have been around here since it was called Porschelist, sometime now.
Please feel free to email me or call the seller Roger. His number is listed on the ebay listing.
I think it has plates, your insurance should cover any car you drive for the first 30 days or so.
Regards,
John
