Well, I am about to open up the check book for my car. My Porsche Tech is dropping the motor this week. Planned modifications are;
SC Cams
Inter Cooler
Hybrid Turbo K27/GT35
Headers
Muffler
Fuel Head modification
WUR modification
Wastegate 1 bar
I am currently looking at several tuners hoping to put together a package deal. I would appreciate any thoughts comments and/or recommendations before I break the bank. Don't allow me to make a huge mistake.

What is your looking radius? Most of the work done on my 87 was done by Steinel's Autowerks in Twinsburg, Ohio. Everything was already done when I bought the car so I have never dealt with them but the work was outstanding and the car is very fast and so far dead on reliable. Check out their website. My setup is very similar to what you are going to do. I believe they sent off all the machine work to Mode, Inc. in Arizona (porting and polishing the heads, intake and plenum and a competition valve job). Good luck with your car.

Sounds great! What cam timing will you be using? It makes a hugh difference in the performance style of the engine. I went from an advanced setting of .078 down to .062 on my recent rebuild and you would not even think it was the same car.

Wish you the best in finding the right shop in your area. I'm So Cal so can't help you there.
What intercooler type are you considering? 1/2 or full bay, retaining AC?
IMHO I'd not use SC cams, as they'll be a waste of your selected turbo's upper end.

Retaining the AC. Looking at several bolt on intercoolers from different tuners. Still on the fence with the SC cams. I figure since the motor will be out, it's now or never.

What about the Rarly8 or the Turbocraft? I also thought that the long neck was the way to go, but I hear you have to make modifications to the fan shroud and inner deck lid.

"Since the motor is out..." is definitely good reasoning. Since you're making the right bolt-on mods the cams will be the extra touch that will optimize those other mods.
Lots of opinions on the matter, however, from my own experience I found SC cams disappointing because they just give up too early with their lower top end when a higher flowing turbo and 1 bar are the most <ahem> stimulating.
Do a search here on Rennlist for "SC330" that are cams characterized as a hybrid of SC and 964. http://www.elgincams.com/c-por2.html

How many members on this board switched to a long neck intercooler? What are the disadvantages (installation). Any real advantages?

Following this with interest.....
I suspect that I'll be going down this road in the future (within a year or two), and I like the builds that allow you to retain the A/C and convert everything back to stock if desired.
Without going over-the-top, what's been the nicest level of mods that keeps the car extremely usable? Does it sound accurate to say that 9Eleven's planned build will be in the 400rwhp range, and is that level of hp still going to be a car that you could hop in, turn on the A/C, and take the wife on a weekend getaway?
I guess I have around 255 rwhp stock, correct? What are these cars really like at 300, 350, 400, 450+ levels? What do you trade or give up as you move up the hp scale?
