RUF looks like fun....

I'm on the fence with this one.
On the one hand, this car would be an absolute ball to drive... you can just tell by looking at it! RUF cars are incredibly cool!
On the other hand, I like the modified cars when they are "period" or originally done when the car is new, and this one was converted much MUCH later. This is more of a hot-rod than anything else, and it's lost the charm of the early body style (bumpers, rain gutters, etc.)... and I'd guess much of its value also, considering the money invested in the build. It would have been worth very close to the same amount today if the owner had just left it stock.
To me, a tuner '79 that was actually built in '79 would be much more valuable, even if it didn't pack quite as much hp as this one does. If this had been a '90 or '91 car built by RUF in '91, I'd like it much more.
Regardless, it would be a fun car to drive.

I remember when he first go that car and it looked pretty ratty tatty, but it appears to be an ok-looking driver now. Probably not going to sell for BiN, but it has come a loooooong way. Cool car to tool around and be a hooligan in, that's for sure

I like the BTR 1 a lot better.
I found it pretty cool that the seller knows a lot about the history and Ruf in general. I never saw a real "connaisseur" when dealing with used cars here in Quebec. Mostly "crosseur" than "connaisseur". :-)
