Hi I purchased a set and had serious over boost issues with the waste gate pipe as it was not positioned correctly and need to be opened out. other wise the headers were ok for a while. they began to change colour and started to look a bit second hand so i had them ceramic coated in hi temp black and now they look great. no other issues they do the job. i have a straight pipe off the turbo (Garrett GT35R no Muffler) it is super loud and i love the noise when you are really pressing on. it sounds awesome, however im sure some of my neighbors disagree!

Thank you for your reply. Trying to make a decision on brand. These seemed less expensive than competitive products but I have not heard a lot about them on the forum.

You get what you pay for with these, I'm afraid. There is a thread over on pelican about a set leaking exhaust fumes into the pass compartment via the heater boxes.
My understanding is that these are made in china and branded under a couple of different names, schnell, gsf, obx, etc.
Their 997 stuff was considered junk.
Stick with BB, FS, Mode or Rarlyl8.

Thanks TT. I agree with your comment that you get what you pay for. I will stick with the well known brands. Have used Fabspeed in the past with great results.

All of the short primary tube headers out there will overboost with a zork or true 3" straight through muffler that exits on the right side of the car.. absolutely all of them because of the lousy small 90 degree wastegate pipe right below the T3 turbo flange that can not flow enough exhaust out to the wastegate to do the job.

If there is a wastegate muffler on it that will increase chances of overboost so get rid of it and put on a louder less restrictive short turned down dump pipe.

Put a stock high backpressure muffler or a B&B left side single out muffler and it won't overboost because those high backpressure quiet mufflers don't let the motor breathe enough to make enough power with the increased exhaust flow and volume to overboost with the lousy design shorty header wastegate pipe.

The difference in horsepower between the zork or true straight through 3" muffler and one of the high backpressure quiet mufflers is about 20-30 horsepower with inclusive high rpm overboost.. btdt.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just purchased the car and it has a dual Borla exhaust system with stock headers. If I keep the dual Borla system, what are your recommendations for headers?

MODE headers built by Bob Holcomb are the best and RarelyL8 headers built by Ben (can't remember Ben's last name) and sold by Brian Bodart are the second best that I know of.
Both are available with or without heat exchangers of different design. For pricing and availability get in touch with them.

5K for headers??? You're kidding me!

Do they really make the car go/sound $5K better?

I think the whole exhaust is 5k, that's pushing the envelope on Porsche tax IMO

My car came with B&B headers with heat exchangers. They seem to be nice quality. No problem with leaks or tone.

Thanks Mussberger. I imagine the Mode headers are high quality but I'm not sure I can justify spending over 2x the price versus B&B or Fabspeed.

A local buddy of mine just had Bob Holcomb make some 1.75" primary tube and 2.5" secondary tube MODE 930 race headers with T4 twin scroll divided flange, heat exchangers, turbo support bracket, larger AR twin scroll T4 flange hot side housing for his Garrett Blowzilla hybrid turbo installed on the turbo, A 3" ID oval shaped straight through Borla XR-1 stainless steel race muffler with stainless V band clamps on each end, hand made 3" right side tail pipe for the muffler with v band clamp attachment, and hand made 3" wastegate tail pipe that exits the left side and matches the right side 3" tailpipe. Clamps, gaskets, and mounting hardware included.
That's what I remember and there may have been more parts included.

They weren't 5 grand...
All of it including the new muffler and new Garret larger twin scroll hot side turbo housing installed on his Blowzilla turbo was around $4600 including shipping from Arizona to S. Florida and they were packaged very well with no damage.

I think he had them about 2 months after ordering them, maybe less.

The basic price for the MODE race headers without heat exchangers welded on was around $3600 I think. Then the price goes up in steps if you want heat exchangers, all the other stuff I mentioned, and insured shipping.
