Post 930 internals???

i was just wondering about the power you could obtain from a 930 engine (or 965/993tt, etc)
using strickly stock internals....

like adding a larger turbo, upping the boost slighty, (forget about lag) etc

Geoffrey,
Wow what have you done to your car? It's a 930 or 964?

Sameer,

I have a large turbo, intercooler, ported twin plug 930 heads, 3.2 Carrera EFI manifold and a Motec M48Pro running the fuel, ignition, boost control, and traction control (soon).

As an aside note, I would have spent the extra money and put a good set of rods rather than running stock rods with that much HP.

Unfortunately the engine still has the Porsche 3.3 7.0:1 compression pistions and cylinders. Like I mentioned before, the bottom end is basically stock.

The car is very fast, I've had it 170 with another gear to go.

It is in fact a 1989 with the factory G50/50 5 speed and LSD. The body is all stock for now. Unfortunately I have to put a center mounted oil cooler on it and that will require a different front valance so the air will flow to it. I purchased a fiberglass 930S front and used a rear grill from a 78SC cut down for the center air passage, but really prefer the stock look. AND of course NY requires a front plate and they are a pain about it. Not sure what I'm going to do.

The car is pretty quiet since I'm running a Borla single exhaust exiting right side and a direct outlet from a HKS wastegate on the left side so it looks like it has dual tips. On the track the car flames now and then once the turbo is nice and hot, I get comments about it all the times. At night on the street, I can see flashes once in awhile too. Thats pretty cool.

Geoffrey,
It's beautiful is'nt it when you see the flash? I too usually get a lot of backfiring usually when I change after 4500revs. My friends tell me that it's like a 2 foot long flame and comming from both tailpipes, one on each side.
