John, they're NEVER done! I made the mistake of taking mine to an event where the Chicago PCA chapter was, and after walking around and talking to some of the guys who show their SC's in concours events, I slipped away with my tail between my legs! I have a LOT of work to do! haha!

BTW, they are great guys & I look forward to becoming more active in their events. It's nice to talk "Porsche" with likeminded people.

How did you clean up the wheels?

BTW, your car looks great. I’m on the fence with the tint. I’m thinking about removing mine as well. But I’m waiting until I remove the windows for the repaint, I figure it will be much easier.

I went to Home Depot & found a satin black spray can that was as close as I could find to the original shine. After a little sanding, I masked off the center section of the rims (& each wheel lock) & just sprayed them. It was so easy & cheap that I'm a little embarrassed. But they look SO much better than they did! (the photos really don't do them justice) I thought I'd just try it before I committed to sending them off to a pro for restoration, and they've turned out so nice that I'm just doing to leave them as they are!
I haven't done the vasoline trick to the silver sections yet. I did it to some rims on a 928 & I thought it just made them collect brake dust more. It was a mess!

(same car... can you believe how different the paint looks? Once day it will be purple & the other blue. That color is just crazy!)

BTW, very nice slantnose! I've always wondered what the view from inside looks like. Can you see anything at all of the fenders when you look out the windshield? I bet it's like sitting in a gokart!

I'd like to redye or recover the interior of the door pockets, as they're faded. Anyone have any ideas?

Could you get away with removing all the tint except that rear window? Besides avoiding damage on removal, leaving it there will keep the sun off the rear seats, etc.

Are the door pockets plastic or leather? There are good rejuvinating products out there for both.

I'm talking about the material inside the pockets, which looks like a black mohair or felt material of some kind.

Sorry....I should have read the details. Insides. Hmmm. Maybe some mild interior cleaner with a microfiber cloth and a little scrubbing? The alternative to cleaning would be replacing the material, which sounds like a lot of work, assuming that you can get replacement linings.

How about a black 930s steering wheel.

I saw the same car last week and heard from my shop that it may be for sale. That color with the flares and the black trim does look wonderful.

Beautiful car. Regarding the tint, well IMO, it's a personal choice; however, because I live in one of the hotter area's of SoCal, I have it on all of my vehicles. Helps save my interior and offers a bit of cooling in addition to AC.

What's most important is your opinion. If you like the tint, then I'd say keep it. If you don't like the tint then I would say let a professional tint specialist remove it for you. Problem solved.

Anywho, regardless of what path you take, you have one beautiful 930.

Best Regards,

Jitters
