Default 88 930 Turbo Cabriolet

Just went to put my top down and heard a loud pop !
The main frame arm for the convertible top snapped like a twig?
Can that be welded even though it's Aluminum ?
I'm bummed How much is a new frame and top? If it can't be welded

Dan,

Can't be welded.

I bet you parked on a hill or a non level area, then you tried to fold down you top, huh?? i did that about three years ago.

After six months of blowing it off and manually assisting my power top, the top started to become more and more difficult to close and lock.

I finally found Oklahoma Foreign Auto parts.

The part I broke was directally above my head, kind of at the top "corner" of the driver's door window.

They sold me the arm I needed for $ 250 (instead of $ 2300 for a complete new frame). A local repair shop swapped it out, but be careful. They streched the canvas and ripped it (like a pair of bluejeans, the canvas started streching and tearing). They felt bad so didn't charge me. I am about to replace the top now before I sell the car.

I do not have a Porsche shop anywhere close to me. I should have waited until I needed my next service.

You more than likley have a broken cable on the opposite side as the broken frame piece as well. That cable is $ 290 at Pelican.
