Hello, i've been watching these forums for awhile and dreaming, now i've taken the plunge into crazyness! I've just bought my first Porsche, a 1983 930 Turbo. As my first post, i'd like to search your brains for info on paint codes. I'm confused as my 930 has a paint code sticker on the inner RH guard ahead of the VIN that shows 810 Rubinrot Metallic, but on the service book my paint code is quoted as X7X7 with VX interior. Interior is Grey/Beige as quoted.

Hi Jon930,
From what I can tell 810 and X7 are the same but just different ways of coding the color.
Try this link: http://color-online.glasurit.com/?language=1
--- put 810 in the CODE box at the upper right and hit search
--- scroll down under MANUFACTURER until you come to Porsche
You'll see
. Color name is RUBINROT MET (Ruby Red Metallic)
. Color Code is 810
. Aux Code is X7
. Year is 1983-1988

Sorry- I forgot to mention - CONGRATULATIONS on your purchase! The 930 is the best of the best. Enjoy the ride, there nothing comparable to the kick you get at boost and the smile it puts on your face!

First, congrats - I hope to follow your lead soon.
The picture thing is tricky. The photo icon you get when posting will open a dialogue box where you will insert a URL. A URL for the photo that you will have to store out online somewhere like PhotoBucket, etc. Once the photos are out on PhotoBucket or wherever, there is a "copy" feature that will let you pull the URL for that photo (you have to do them one at a time) and paste it into the dialogue box that the photo icon opens.
It's tricky, but managable. My problem is that usually Rennlist kicks me out when I try to upload things. I often have to log in 5 - 6 times before I get to stay on the forums to do anything.
Looking forward to more photos.
