I am restoring my '86 930 Turbo and need inputs from you guys re: my rear fender lip/groove shape. This is original metal w/o filler.

Right rear fender looks ok.

However, the left rear fender looks kinda strange. (look at the lip/groove).

Does this look normal?

Is left really a little different from right?
Should I "fix" the left portion with filler?

The lip does not look uniform to me. Would it be worthwhile to make a template to compare the two sides and also measure the uniformity of the lip from the front to the rear?

 

Agree, not uniform.

 

I wasn't sure if I was seeing it right before but it does look like arc of the left rear lip is not as circular as the right rear lip. It actually almost looks like a slightly flattened circle and the distance between the inner and outer radius gets wider in that range too. Maybe I'm imagining it because you suggested it,though.

 

That's right that's why I pointed it out and wanted feedback since I felt it is off. (wasn;t too sure since metal is untouched and not worked on)
