Cool
Thanks for the tips

My 404whp evo would rape my stock 930.
I guess your 930 is stronger than you think to hang with a 500 crank hp viper.

Thanks!

Ha ha it was pretty safe... It was a long flat straight run - the road goes for about 10 miles along the beach (Ocean Parkway) no one was around.

Rebuild it, keep as stock as possible. No matter what you do to a car with "go fast" aftermarket parts, remember - there is always another car out there that is faster. Unless you bought car already torn up and modded out, then I would say changing any part of the car would not matter, the value of the "originality" has already been altered.

But, it sounds like your car is still original-ish, so try to keep it that way. Enjoy the way the car drives "back in the day"......

Agree w the above, keep simple bolt ons only, if you start changing trannies and fuel systems, you've gone too far.
All my stick parts are in my basement, the car could be back to bone stock in a day.

Sorry to bring this back up.

How much did it finally cost you for the tranny rebuilt?

I'm exactly in the same situation.

Thanks

3-5k for stand rebuild depending on how many gears need to be replaced. I was told if I want shortened gears aka Race gear box 7-8k. It' 1k ish for every new race gear. my car is a 4 spd 4k extra...

What are your symptoms? Usually it's just dog teeth, syncros, gaskets, seals, and labor. My last in my 915 trans was just under 3k.

Adding to my earlier post, I did upgrade my Turbo to 7200 from BL. Works great!

1st gear and 2nd gear grind on aggressive shifting... 3rd too but much less.... reverse can take a little doing to get it engaged. I can't downshift into 1st unless 2mph role or complete stop. I have been quoted so many different price points, as some shop play the " we have to wait and see how bad it is" game ...and of course the price can go from 3k 5k if they replace everything. what about VertexAuto I think they ship you a rebuilt tranny for 2200. does anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks for the info.

Mine couldn't engage in third gear after a long highway drive just to downshift a gear. Grinding third a lot after.
Went for another ride just to check everything and lost third and forth gear. Stoped and couldn't engage any gear and after 2 minutes of trying could put second gear in and went back home.
Went to see a good specialist and checked for bushings, cables or else but seems it's a bigger problem. It's been 3 weeks now and he didn't even touch it yet as it is spring time and to many cars right now....

hope to have it before winter

Well, out here in California, all I can do is sit on the fence and watch you guys roar by. No need to worry about $$$ modifications! If our state finds out there are any mods on the car other than stock, park it!. Last week they were under my '88 Carrera with a flashlight looking for anything out of the ordinary. If I understood right, if you replaced your thermal destructors with cats, that's not how it came from the Fatherland, so park it. Sooo, if you want to sell in California, save all the stock parts!!! One of these days, I'll happen upon a stock 930 and just have to drive a little slower........

First of all you shouldn't hurry your shifts. Second......Have you checked the linkage and bushings in the shifter and is it adjusted correctly? Third....What oil do you have in it? Fourth.....if it comes to that, rebuild yours! don't buy a reman.
