I'm not trying to hijack your thread but figured this would be a good place to post this and give you an alternative at the same time I get some help about my wheels. I bought my 87 a month ago and it has the original factory Fuchs. They were sent somewhere by a PO and had the centers cut out, widened and somehow converted from 16" to 17" modular wheels. The rear tires are 315/35ZR17s and 245/45ZR17s on the front. I'm not sure I understand how it was done but the way it was explained to me is that the rims were widened and the edges rolled out to make them accept the larger diameter tires. I don't know who did the wheel conversion although I have extensive records of all the engine and suspension upgrades. If someone out there is familiar with this conversion I would love to hear about it. It may be an alternative for your situation too.
