Condition drives the price. Just not enough info to tell but at $50K I would think you would be using a term more emphatic than "decent"

50k seems high. I have seen a few on AutoTrader.com with much less mileage for less money. Plenty of factors here, car history, how close to stock and at 50k miles has any top end work been done?

Any pics???

Location, condition, color, etc. Ive found that on any 930, there really is no "norm" anymore. Prices are all over the place. Depends on the buyer, seller, car, location, mileage, intended use, and many other factors. No two sales of these cars are alike and I wouldnt read too much into what another car was bought or sold for just because a cpl items may be similar between the two cars.

When I buy a Porsche, Im buying the owner as much as the car. The car I can see, but I want to buy from an owner I know is the kind of guy or gal you want to buy a Porsche from. The kind that doesnt let small things go and lives by the term preventive maintenance. Im willing to pay a significant premium for that, even if theres a similar condition car elsewhere. Looks can be deceiving from just looking on the outside.

UD Pride has it right. These cars are on a general up trend. But, prices and condition are all over the place. This site always amazes me in that the members love the cars (I guess) but downgrades pricing(which is value). From a personal standpoint, I think they are worth lots-o-$s because they are beyond fun to drive, they still kick ***, and no matter where you are they attract all kinds of thumbs up etc. Also, I don`t care how many they made, they are not making anymore and have not for over 20 years...there is a decline in numbers for one reason or another. and there are all kinds of new customers(in the billions) entering the market. I consider mine an appreciating asset.

I put a list on my site www.vconcours.com of 10 cars and 2 motorcycles that we thought would appreciate more quickly than others. The 930 was second on the list. The site includes all makes so the list is very general. It is in the Opinion section. I researched the cars and bikes on the list and it made me realize the benefits the 930 actually offered. One comment I get now that I didn`t previously is that people like the original 911 styling better than the succesors. The style of the car strikes people now more than in the past, it can`t be duplicated.

My hope is the 930 will be the 356 of the 2020s. There are only a certain number of cars that have the visual and mechanical capacity to do two things indefinitely:

1. Capture the imagination of the public.
2. Look better the older they get.

A Cadillac Cimarron gets uglier every day, as most cars do. The few that dont have little collectable value.

The 930 has everything going for it. Everything. Its like the Stingray or the XKE. There will always be as many if not more willing buyers than sellers. Market conditions will make for better and worse times to buy and sell, but the trend will remain strong overall and only get stronger going forward.

As for what someone else paid, these cars are so finicky and personal from a condition, location, and history standpoint, they really need to be measured on a case by case basis. What may seem like $7-10K over- or under-paid "by the market value" doesnt really account for a lot of the things we use to evaluate these cars. So much of it is a litmus test that spreadsheets and computer printouts just cant capture.

Default 930 slant

I have a 2009 Carrera S with PDK and just purchased a 1987 930 S Slantnose (euro model). I was looking for a "collectible " Porsche and decided on the Slantnose 930 because of it's rarity (only 846 factory models produced.....of these 237 were " special wishes" cars...mine is a special wishes edition). It is Guards Red with a cashmere full leather interior and in excellent condition with 42k miles. It is currently at my mechanics getting everything checked.
I love the way it sounds and drives. I get a lot of interesting questions like " What is this car......I have never seen one like this"....
Besides those kudos I felt that this would be a great long term investment because these cars will only appreciate......IMHO....

Default 930 slant

My car is the 330 bhp model with the power package which includes the upgraded exhaust. From my research most of the "Sonderwunsch" or special wishes cats had this option but you could add any option that you wanted on the special wishes program....at Werke 1...
