I have sent them an e-mail in English and German with VIN (and I don't know the name of the original owner, the car was imported more than 10 years ago). No reply from Kremer for more than 10 days...

Title the car in Bosnia, Heregovinia, Croatia or Italy. Shouldn't be too hard to find a fellow Porsche owner in a neighboring country willing to let you register your future car there ! ! ! !

I'd do it for you but I don't think that the X-commies in Belgrade would believe the US tags

Baron,

I cannot drive a car on foreign plates as I'm citizen of Serbia, it is a breach of customs regulations and the car would be repossessed.

Believe it or not many people drive cars on US tags here, didn't you watch the news, we are friends with the US again (as we were allies throughout our history: WW I and II...). There is no problem with US plates as long as you hold a Green card, or US Passport...

And I don't feel like an x-commie, as well as 99% of people here. We were not given the choice in 1945 when the Soviet red army came and "delivered us" from German *****...

Anyway, I posted this to get opinions and advices from the fellow Porsche enthusiasts about Kremer Slantnose, so if you do not have something to contribute on a specific topic, please hold on political comments.

Tnx,
Igor

For the money I don't see how you can go wrong no matter what you do under the back side.

Good point!

Now, I have some estimates for conversion:

Engine upgrade, based on existing M64/01 block: twin scroll turbo, pistons, heads, injectors, various seals, electronic... all good for 550 hp, with 12 months warranty: EUR 11,000
Springs and shocks: EUR 3,000
Transmission, 5 speed manual rebuilt: EUR 3,000
Interior, custom full leather: EUR 3,500
Brakes upgrade: EUR 3,000
Painting: EUR 1,500
New tires and wheel refurbishing: EUR 1,500
Car: EUR 7,000
Total: EUR 33,500 i.e. $ 45,350
I'm certain there will be some unforeseen expenses of non less than $ 3,500 so my estimate is $ 48,000 for the finished car.

Now if this wasn't the year in which the new 998 comes out, and I know I'll get an itch come next January ...

Iggy before you go about spending your hard earned (inhereited?)cash I would suggest getting some parts estimates from other places..
US prices even with airfreight may beat even some western euro supply houses..
By the way almost ended up in Belgrade on a train leaving Buda-Peste with my X girl friend she lives in
Nishe?

Budge96,

The cash is earned or to be earned...

I've done several project cars (not Porsches) and I purchased all of the parts in the US, and shipped them to Serbia. With the turbo upgrade however, it needs a lot of computer tuning, mapping etc, so I need to do it in the local shop. Of course they will not work with the parts I supply from independent source...

I'm still considering all options.

It's a shame you did not go to Nis, they have the best barbecue in the world, you have to try it to believe it...

Tnx for the advice,
Igor
