Ended up going through some DOM trying to make some front down tubes that hugged the front pillars. After 2 attempts, I decided to go the normal route.

Finally got the car off the rotisserie for a bit so that I can start the cross bracing.

Done for this weekend, I might pick away at the side impact bars and dig into the rear this week if I get out of work at a reasonable hour....

Put in some hours today, it's crazy how long it took me to cut and fit 7 pieces... but after a long frustrating day I got the side impact cross bars done and the under dash bar too.

Back in the shop tonight and got the cage roughed out and tacked in.

A little smokey from the welding and cutting....

looks like a jungle gym in the back seat now.

Car is back on the rotisserie so I can finish my welds.

Spent some time in the shop today and go the cage finished. Would have got it done earlier but I ran outta gas for the welder. Plus I didn't like the way one of my braces came out and I went a different route with the roof braces. It take a lot longer to cut out a tube after it is finished welded in.

Got the donor roof inside and finally started to get some work done on it.

After about 10,000 spot welds I was starting to see dots and called it a night.

At least I feel like I am moving forward and the roof is back on!

Got most of the passenger side rain gutter done then ran out of Argon mix for the welder.

Seeing as there is no welding supply places open on Christmas, I decided to do some paint removal on the roof.

Looks like the car was completely stripped at one point and a real heavy coat of primer filler was used, then primer and it was sprayed with a single stage red, but not body filler. so I am happy about that.

So apparently every welding supply place in my area takes the day AFTER Christmas off too. Due to this, I was out of my Argon mix and coudn't get any more welding done on the rain gutter delete so I decided to look at another project today.

Trying to figure out where to put this!

After a lot of apprehension I pulled out the plasma cutter and went to work.

The fit is pretty good, gets more weight off the rear and into the nose.

Now that it is roughed in I can figure out line routing. I am planning running the supply line through the cabin and building a metal shield to cover it and also making a panel to complete the fire wall up front.

Ok, back in the shop this weekend. I am cutting out the 930 harness ( I have the 87 as a back up) in preparation for getting the chassis primed. I am deleting a bunch of items and the factory hanress will either get a diet OR I am planning on going this route with wiring Painless Performance: 12 Circuit Universal / Streetrod Harness / Non GM Keyed Column . Seems like an easy way to update and simplify the system. Has anyone worked with this product?

Update,

What a pain in the *** this harness was to get out. I think I'd be much better off running a new harness.

Got the arms off and started.

Used a press to get the factory rubbers off

One side is sandblasted, need to step out for some JB Weld before the stores close.

got my torches back from the repair shop, what better way to break in the torches than working on the Porsche?

Just a little heat and the new tool took the ball joint castle nut right off

Time for powder.....

35 minutes and I'll see how good I did.

One down, one to go..... Looks gray, but it's an aluminum satin.

New Ball joints are going in later tonight.

All done, Ball joints in and complete, ready to install back in the car.
