On Friday evening I visited my buddy Mario at his shop just South of Johannesburg. He had an '81 turbo there that he's been servicing since new, one owner, the car now has 35k kms on the clock and is in perfect nick. Probably one of the best original 930s around. We fired it up and left it at idle, just to listen.... Even at idle the thing is music to the ear. When cold the exhaust gives that tell-tale 930 blub-blub-blub ever so often, sounds just like someone tapping the bongos. Warming up to about 85 degrees centigrade and the blub-blub-blub bongo gradually builds up to full crescendo, even though the car is still at idle. Fantastic sound, just one of the little things that makes a 930 a 930...

But I suppose 930 owners know the song, eh?

 

Hehehehe one of the many joys of ownership - the sound of the turbocharged flat 6...music, sweet music...
