Well, if you are as hard on cars as I am, and the car is still worth a dime or two after I'm through with it..I win.
What you have to ask yourself is...Do you want to buy a car(any car) to enjoy or invest?
The real fun thing about a car with questionable value, is that you really don't have to care what you do with it. Street it, track it, cut it, weld it, customize it, what ever, just enjoy th crap out of it and consider it money well spent. So if when you sell it and get a little cash, well that's just icing on the cake!!!

There was once a Volvo ad that simply stated..."A car is NOT too expensive, if you get YOUR moneys worth".

So how much is your fun worth????

Thats exactly why I wasn't looking for a perfect condition, low mileage 930. I wanted something with some battle scars (so i wouldn't freak out over getting paint chips or parking lot dimples) and a car I wouldn't be afraid to drive anywhere or modify to my liking. I picked up a decent condition 86 930 this week and the first plan is an EFI conversion. Next will be more power, big wheels and go have fun!

YOU CAN NEVER BUY A SALVAGE TITLED CAR CHEAP ENOUGH !! THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ISSUES RAISING THEIR EXPENSIVE HEAD...FREE WOULD BE THE ONLY REASON I WOULD HAVE IT IN MY DRIVEWAY..

A salvage title could be simple as a theft where the wheels and seats were taken. Very common situation down here in south florida. They are not always trashed. With that said I don't know if I would pay much for a salvage title P-car as the typical "buyer" of these cars do feel the same way turbobooost does. The '79 930 I had back in '91 came with a shady past, which is why i picked it up for $9000. But after a year of driving it and having lots of fun I sold the car for $16k

sometimes you find buyers outside the p-car community that don't hold these cars in such high regard, yet want them none the less. hence the buyer for my car. It fit the bill he wanted

well if it already has a title and is listed as rebuilt and has plates then if you can pick it up really cheap have fun with it. mine was a salvage title and i have no giult doing anything at all to tthe car. but you need to be prectly clear. it has to be listed as a rebuilt car with plates on it. if it 's salvage and hasnot had the title rebranded as rebuilt do NOT buy it. when i was complete with my car it took 6 trips to DMV. every time i went they looked at all the documentation for everything and found some reason (different each time) to say no come back with this or that. finally had to threaten them with court action and they approved it. I waited more than 6 months to get it all straight had to find all the preveous owners and get a certified letter from a Judge in Georgia before I was through.

kens911 is right- if it's salvage and has never been tagged I would be reluctant. But if it's in the system you'll have no problems, unless it's moving to a different state. That may cause an issue

and no rubbing on the rear fenders? It looks like it's sitting on the tires

Probably mentioned, but check with your insurance company. Some will not insure a totaled/rebuilt/salvage car no matter what.

I know this is a heart breaker of an I dea but it is worth considering. Offer them $15,000 after you check out everything on and in it. Drive it if its a good one and then break it up and sell it for the parts alone. I just saw ONE slantnose front fender for $1200. x 2 thats $2400 right there. Engine if it has any upgrades should be worth $10,000. Tranny at $4,000. Seats $1200/set if sport seats. Front valance with those squirrley head lights and their activaters $1000. Rear clip $1200. Steering wheel $350. Wheels, (depending on the make and type $1000. And there is so much stuff on one of these things that you might even make some on it. Good luck. Remember if the engine and tranny are no good belay this whole idea.
