The car has about 73,000 miles on it, GP white with white wheels. Is there any info you guys can decifer from the vin? WP0JB0935GS050242 i'm going to look at it this weekend and barring any bad news from the PPI it could be mine.

what i have found so far is this letter B should designate N/A (B) or turbo (D). Does anyone else have a 930 turbo with the letter B in the 5th place instead of the D ?

great, thanks again for the info guys. it's been 15 years since i owned my '79 930 and i'm hoping my memories aren't playing tricks on me. I can't wait to get behind the wheel. Were the '86 models really any different than the '79? It's still CIS and 4 speed so i'm assuming similar feel. The car does have a K27 turbo and a B&B exhaust so it should be faster.

well, i'm back! I drove up this morning with a picture in my mind of a car needing (sort of) a new paint job, some rust around the windshield and a dirty interior. when I got there I was greeted by this glowing GP white 930 with a very nice Dark blue (looks black till direct sunlight) interior. The paint, aside from a couple of minor touch up areas, looked beautiful. The "rust areas" were these 2 tiny little spots just under the lip of the windshield rubber, barely noticable. Any less-than-honest seller would have dabbed some touch-up paint and zipped his lip, no one would have been the wiser. In the sun she glimmered like a pearl. The car had been sitting since yesterday inside the shop, He mentioned it was a bit cantankerous on cold start (seen one that wasn't?) and bumped the key. She roared to life instantly and settled to a mean growl (the B&B headers / muffler combo sounded mean). After a minute or two of idling it was off on a test ride. I rode shotgun while he babied the car out onto the street. No smoke, No weird noises, No rattles, No clunks from the suspension, no nothing! At this point i'm really starting to wonder why it's priced so right, everything seemed to be great, even the a/c blew cold and a whole lot better than my old '79 a/c. After a few minutes on the highway he rolled into the throttle from 3k rpm, it had a dead spot from 3500 to 4000 where it acted like it was starving for fuel, then almost like a light switch it blasted away from traffic like a bullit. My first thought after the CIS concern was holy ****, this thing is WAAYYY faster than my '79 was. So after we returned to the stable and I looked over the car with a fine tooth comb I said "SOLD!" after, ofcoarse, the PPI is performed and everything checks out. I'm excited to say the least.
so hear is a question for the CIS heads: what would cause this? From idle to about 3200rpm it is smooth, then it struggles thru to 4000rpm and bam! off she goes. Is this an issue of the car sitting, or a more serious problem? Engine wise it's quiet, good oil pressure and the temp stayed normal. If the CIS is FUBAR i really don't care much as I plan on an EFI conversion.

this hesitation you speak of could just be your normal turbo lag exaggerated with the larger turbo charger, the ppi will tell the story which shop are you having the ppi done? where is the car located i see you are in south fl as well
