Would there be an early pay off penalty? Or a penalty if you paid off a portion after closing?

That just sounds like they wanted you to put more money down so that they would only have to finance 50% of the purchase price. They wanted you to put more equity into it rather than less....

Yeah they probably get money for doing the financing. parents were buying a new car and one dealer said they had to finance to get the lower price. Also so you know that car has been around for a long time on ebay etc.

Car companies do get an up front payment for securing financing and maybe the amount of kick back would be substantally more at a higher amount. My old rule about cars is, if cash isn't king then I walk away. I think you did the right thing.

Couple things here.. as far as financing.. you're not even going to find many places that will provide financing on a high performance car of this age. That's partly why they want more money down and higher rate.

Also, Autosport Design has been around for a looooooong time and they know Porsches very well in asddtion to being a pretty heavy-hitter in the collector car market.

Any concerns with some of the non-original parts? Fog lights, head light covers, side mirrors, cheap trunk liner. I know they are minor, but he described the car as mint. It's also got the wrippling around the sun roof, in the roof linger. I like everything about the car, and was going to do a PPI. I'm kind of intrigued by a white 930 in florida a bit more tho.

Onboost, he said just the opposite. He said they wanted LESS down not more. That is what makes it so weired.

Oh, yeah.. less money down and bump in rate.. Fact is you may find another nice one elswhere but may not be able to get them to finance..
