Default If you got a second...

I need your guys opinion on what my 79 930. I don’t really drive it much anymore and I would like to get a 996, 996 turbo or cayman as a daily driver. I am close to getting a job at a dealership (I just got done with the Porsche PTAP program) and it will be really easy to maintain a water pumper than my 930 for a daily.

So here is the low down. I have an idea what I would like to get for it but I would like your guy’s opinion.

79 930 matching #’s 104,000 miles
Engine rebuild (3.3) 15,000 miles ago by PO
IA EFI conversion
Glass out media blasted full paint job
Elephant suspension (everything on the car)
Coil overs
Big red brembo’s
K27 wheels and newer set of v700’s 245 and 315
Evo 2’ seats and 6 points
Full set of fiberglass bumpers and tail (car weights 2,650)
Front mount oil cooler
BB headers and k27hf
965 intercooler
Rennline petals and other stuff

the car needs an alignment and 3rd gear is 60% (can't or shouldn't speed shift it). Other than that the car is pretty clean.

Let me know what you think a fair price would be. I am in no hurry to sell.

Thanks,

Scott

Nice car, always liked the 934 look you gave to it! Great mix of performance and light weight!

As far as the value of the car for what you put into it, it is worth the money in theory, no question. It is worth the money in parts probably as well. Unfortunately this current market is deal or no deal. It is probably not worth that money to potential buyers at this moment in history...many deals out there already not selling.

I think your best shot is to really highlight each and everything that made this car special...and try to recognize when you have a sincere buyer that you may have to go the extra distance to make the sale.

Scott-

I said hello to you last weekend at Firebird. Hate to see you sell that, always enjoyed seeing it at the track. FWIW, just thought I'd share with you that I've had my '89 930 for sale (off and on) for about 2-3 months. I started out asking $38k and there was no interest. At $35k I had a couple inquiries but no firm offers, and now at $32k still nothing. Everybody wants a deal right now. Unless you need the money you might be better off hanging on until the economic outlook improves.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Nice car and color! What do you call that color? Regarding the price I think you would need to knock off $10k. Sorry for being "harsh" but that's the price I'd pay for a street track car and I'm taking my time looking for one.

That is a $40K easily, beautiful with incredible mods!! I remember your car from your avatar picture. Someone will get an awesome car if you sell it.

That will be very difficult to get. I would part the car and return what you can to stock. That is how you will get the most money out of this car. If not, be prepared to get under $30k, most likely $25k - $28k.

Thanks for all the responses and complements. Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I am a realist on trying to sell a car in today's market. I haven't been watching what 930's are selling for. Really looking at EFI cars to see if that adds to the sell and that's why i ask you guys. I think i might just keep it for year and see what happens. I am in no hurry to sell it (though i would love to get a 996 turbo, talk about low prices).

TL it was nice to see you too. Are you going to do the NASA event next weekend? I might just instruct.

The color is petrol blue, i think it was only a factory color for 77-79.

The PTAP program is an accelerated tech training program. I spent 6 months in Atlanta learning and working on all the new late model cars (i have like 80 credit hours now). Now i am just waiting to get a job at a dealer (service is really slow at most the dealers, just my luck)

996 prices are going lower. I would keep the 930 and wait for a deal at the dealership. As an employee, I'm sure you will get very good prices on trade ins.

Scott- 1) Keep it! I'm in the same boat, have been trying to sell the 930, but I don't think its worth letting go at today's prices. 2) Yes, I am planning on doing the NASA event next weekend. Will be taking the GT3 out. Haven't driven the main track at Firebird so, if you do instruct, I'll probably be looking for someone to show me the line in the first session.

Have a good weekend.

Todd
