Default valve adjustment

hello all. I'm trying or looking into information how to adjust my valves. I found some information on the Pelican site which is for a 911. So my question to all of you: does one have to take a turbo by-pass tube & unit (whatever it's called) out of the way to lower the driver's side bottom valve cover? And any other recommendations & sources. Or if anybody wants to be my friends & lives close by, Newtown, CT, I could use some help.

thanks for your input.

Search on the pelican forum about the "backside" method.

it is a real pain to adjust them on the drivers side. my arm would not fit to do the upper valves on the drivers side. I had to lower the engine about 6 inches so i could reach the intakes from under the car.

I just find it easier to remove the engine to do the valve adj and do other stuff while it's out.

Whatever way you do it, just make sure the clearance is correct. I believe you will do more damage if the valves are too tight. In this case you will burn the valves, because you remove the air gap and the valves don't cool properly. Too loose and they will be noisy. If you haven't tried the backside method, you should try it. Much easier. You check the normal way, and adjust via backside. worked good for me.

To answer your question, yes for easy access you do have to remove the wastegate to get at the drivers side lower cover. The wastegate is not difficult to remove.

i didnt have any trouble with the waste gate being in the way it was the inake valves I couldnt reach. Besides like rocket said between the heat from the turbo warping the chain boxes causing oil leaks and clutch work. it's usually time to take it out for other stuff anyways when the valve adjustment is due
