Default Outdoor Car Cover

Well, it has finally happened. My mother has a buyer for her house before my fiancee' and I have been able to find a house in New Orleans with a garage. Having said that, my beloved 930 may have to sit outside uncovered for a month or so.

Is there an outdoor cover that you guys would recommend for this kind of use? The finish on my car is perfect, and I want to protect it.

Thanks for the advice!!!

there is a new type car cover out called touchless car cover that looks pretty neat. i have never seen one in person. other than that I would go with a top of the line material made for outdoor uses. your other option may be to rent a mini warehouse. around here a 10x15 runs around $150 / month.

I'm in the same boat, but my cars outdoor stay might be longer. A friend of mine with a 996 GT3 bought one from the Porsche dealership which is silver on the outside- seems very heavy duty and seems to be a factory authorized solution. If I find anything interesting I'll post it up.

If your finish is "perfect"...any cover, whether indoor or outdoor will end up creating the spiderweb scratches in your finish.....can't be helped. Dust and minute particles get under the covers and when you take them on and off, they end up scratching the finish as the particles rub across the finish when you take the cover on/off...not deep scratches, but rather those light ones that you can see in oblique lighting. No way to prevent this

I agree with Chuck... any dust etc with damage your finish and if there is a strong wind you don't want the cover flapping on your paint whatsoever.

Fortunately for me, my problem may be solved. I met a gentleman (through a business acquaintance of mine) that collects old Roll Royce's and he has a warehouse in the city. He has offered to let me keep my 930 and my newly acquired 930 project there...

I got lucky.

I was going to mention keeping it in a self storage place.

We sold our house in June and went from a 6 car garage to 2 car garage in the rental. It sucks as I have to keep it in a self storage unit...

I've tried an outdoor cover, the wind really rubs the paint with the cover... Not good.

I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.
