Default G50 swap --throttle linkage

Hello,

I know some here have made the G50 swap.
As the engine moves a little to the back,
what have you made with your throttle linkage?

During some upgrade work I discovered that my
throttle opens only to ~85%, maybe its less.
The linkage touches the engine tin, see pic down here.

I am quite sure the reason is the G50 swap which was
made on my car many (~10) years ago (not from me).
It seems that since that, my 930 never saw WOT :-)

this is my throttle when pedal is pushed maximum

this is the linkage on maximum position (~85% )

rebending the linkage might solve the problem,
but maybe you have another solution?
Pictures how the linkage looks like on non G50 car
or a modified one would be very helpfull.

How much power was not used with this blockade?

thanks
Falk

Hello Geoffrey,

thanks for the idea!
What will be the difference?
*edit: from PET, all 930 linkage are the same from 78-89,
part nr. 930.423.019.02

...and still, how much power was not used
with 15-20% less throttle?

So how hard is a G50 swap? I talked to the guy that has the Ruf 5 speed for sale on ebay and he indicated that $8500 is what it was going to take seems like alot of $$$ but maybe not, what do you guys think is the better way to go?

Depends on specifics how hard it is. Year of vehicle, whether you get a shortened bell housing G-50, etc. Don't believe that RUF 5spd you're referring to is a G50. Do some research and you'll find that RUF trans isn't as strong as the stock 4 or a G50. You should be able to do a complete G-50 changeout using a complete G-50 trans kit from Patrick Motorsports in AZ for about $10k total including labor from a decent shop.

If I am correct, the experts here should correct me,
even with a shortened bellhousing, your engine position
will move slightly backwards.

On first look this is not a big point, but I am discovering
more and more small problems with this.
1: I am installing a RUF IC currently.
This unit fits very close to the lid.
Very probably I need to cut out something here.
2: I took out my alternator incl housing.
It is a mess anyway, but with less space its not getting easyer.
3: this threats topic: Someone has made the G50 swap on my car
many years ago. I suspect something around 10 years.
Everything was done professionally, the car is perfectly running
with the G50 since that. Only they forgot to resize the throttle linkage.
I never had it on a dyno, power was great
Adjusting the linkage will be my cheapest performance upgrade :-)

So remember, there are few disadvantages withz a G50.
On the other side, I won`t miss this gearbox!

The RUF 5spd won't give you the nice easy gear changes that you get with a G50.

My car has a 3.8RS tail and a bent throttle linkage...

I also think the cross member (engine bracket) is flipped to allow some extra distance as the holes for the 2 bolts for the mounts are not in the centre!
