RUF Spoiler HELP!!!
I'm hoping that somebody here has experience with aftermarket front spoilers. I purchased one from automotion.com, it's a fiberglass euro style boxed front spoiler "Ruf" style. Well, it's in but it comes with no instructions or hardware. So needless to say i'm sorta lost as to how this thing is supposed to be installed after paint. Anyone have any ideas???? Here is a sample pic of what it is supposed to look like when it's installed.

The exact reason that I stay away from aftermarket body parts. They usually don't fit very well and require extra holes to be drilled into the sheetmetal. That being said, I really like the look of a properly installed RUF front spoiler anyway...

You will not need to drill any holes in the factory parts as the Ruf spoiler utilizes the factory mounts on the fenders and there is a bracket in the center that can be fabbed up, I can fax you a schematic from my office tomorrow.

oh ok the factory euro grilles in the slant noses were made from cut down rear deck grilles. That's how I made the one for my car, I thought RUF did the same thing

SCHNELE,
Do you sell RUF spoilers? I am returning this one. I am not pleased with this one. I'm not impressed with the tabs that stick out in the grill area nor do I like the mesh grill. Is this typical for an aftermarlket replica? If you have a real RUF spoiler you are selling let me know. Thanks!

Schnele: I'm in Brownsville, TX 78526
Powerlift: Those tabs sure look crappy. I'd file them off or cut off, sand the edge and once you have it painted nobody will notice. As for the grill, I agree, get a better one. Maybe from Schnele?

It looks to me that the intended grill is supposed to fit outside of the tabs and if they were painted black would become invisible. That is actually a very good design and is a lot easier to install and use than behind the facia type grills. My DP did not come with any hardware but it is easy to make up some pieces. I put two braces from the front "A" arm mounts to the outside corners of the valance and one in the middle from the existing holes. I did not drill any holes in my car except under the front bumper along the top of the valance. I drilled and tapped them and it pulled the top edge up nice and tight. The advice that all after market pieces need some work is true. Either cutting or filling, twisting and shouting.

IMHO you get what you pay for. Aftermarket copies of RUF front spoilers either don't have the lower aero lip at all or it's part of the single fiberglass piece, which is subject to abuse if your car is anything lower than USA highwater ride height. YMMV - again IMHO. ;-) The bummer is how expensive the real deal is from RUF. I paid $2k for mine. Ouch! It's nite-n-day quality difference no doubt, but at a burn-rape-n-pillage cost for sure. Don't tell me about Exxon gouging us!! LOL
