What I wanted people to know is that the unit was not used for tuning purposes, only information.

Anyone wanting a AFR device to prevent their car from running lean wants a device that can and has been calibrated. Hopefully Jim has had his compared to the one used on the dyno.

Anyone trying to tune their AFR definitely wants a device that can and has been calibrated. They will also want to look at their logs of AFR vs RPM.

Sensors do deteriorate and therefore do need to be calibrated periodically.

My opinion is why risk our expensive engines for a small cost saving.

I had my car initially tuned with a request to "keep the AFR's rich" and my tuner did exactly that. He did the initial tune on an Autronic AFR unit.

Then I installed the NGK unit with the intention of datalogging and tuning myself. It didn't really turn out that way. The guy who re-tuned the car used the NGK readings for the tuning after the unit was calibrated. It seems to be very accurate, but I have nothing to compare it to.

My car has been dyno tuned separately from the gauge. We checked my gauge against a calibrated gauge plumed into the system and found it to be rather accurate and incredibly responsive for both boost and AFR.
