Default AFR gauges

I would like to install an AFR gauge in my car. Any recommendations are which one to go with?

I think the majority of people, from what I've read on this forum, are using Innovate Motorsports setups - either permanently installed such as the LM-1 gauge or handheld such as the LC-2.
Go to http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/x...me.php?cat=262 to see all your choices. I personally have the LM-1 analog gauge for a permanent installation (even though it's still "temporarily installed" on my shop shelf, waiting for me to get around to puting it in the car!).

Not cheap but the In Your Face Gauges http://www.inyourfacegauges.com/ I installed in my turbo are sweet. David does a nice job of installing a PLX screen in the tach and you can monitor a number of different parameters at the same time.

It can only read 4 at the same time but can have as many as 32 sensors hooked up. I use it to monitor AFR, Boost, I/C temp and exhaust temp.

I would call and talk to him about how it works on a 930 mine runs off the OBC stalk

here are some pics of it in my car. I believe David is using some of these shots. No relationship just a happy customer.

BTW the car is off so the readings are all screwy and you can customize the display a million different ways both analog and digital.

Now data logging is important to me .

Zeitronix Wideband LCD Display + Zt-2 is not too expensive
the display wedges between the dash and the top of the cebter console ..I can move it between cars
or remove without a trace .and the new data logging software is really nice.
so without a dyno you can hook up your PC to the Zeitronix tell it to log do a run through the gears
and later look at the log file to see boost against RPM / AFR / EGT ...all without taking your eyes off the road .

If you want a functional system with AFR, EGT, MAP + 2 other sensors datalog--- Zeitronix
If you want AFR gauge only---maybe Innovate ( I heard that they freeze often)
By far the nicest gauge is the PLX shown in above pictures, unfortunately each
additional sensor or feature requires a new red box.

Thanks guys. Not sure what to do. Those in your face gauges are really nice. I will call them and see what they offer for my car.

It is on my 964 turbo. It is the factory CF kit with the Exclusive marking on it. The original owner had it installed. This is the same stuff used on the 993TT S.

There is a guy over on the 993/964 forums that sells these parts. I have an old price list and he lists 911 parts but it is in German so I can't read it. Apparently he worked for the company that made them for the factory. Stuff used to be pricey because of exchange rates but I am sure we will see things level off in the future. This info is old but should still be good.

An older picture for those interested. This is with flash and looks more like the other pictures than it does here. Too much reflection off the surface making the weave stand out more than usual.

Sorry to go but I figure it relates to the dash.

I have one in my 930. Currently it is controlled by a USB 4-way remote in my ashtray. David did say he would be able to adapt the remote to use a cruise control stalk if you wanted it to look completely factory. I don't really change the parameters on mine that often. I just have sensors for boost\vac and AFR.

I bought the Innovate XD-16 kit. The gauge has the button facility to control the LC-1. The sensor can be accurately calibrated. The DL-32 can be added to do almost anything.

I went cheap with mine. It's an NGK AFX unit. It does data-log. I velcro'd the unit underneath my ashtray. I believe the setup was $150.

Just to note that Jim has had his car set up on a dyno.

I use and recommend the AEM Uego widebands, which are priced right and always work as they should.

I'm currently using the LM-1, but it's the large hand held unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter The downside is it's hard to hide when I have the top down on the cabriolet and sits on the seat or the floor. Jim's unit looks like something I'd like...plus being velcro'd it can be easily moved....and the readout is nice for older eyes.

Nathan: What's the significance of the fact Jim has his set up on a dyno? Do you mean he dyno'd it before he installed the gauge....as a matter of precisely setting the AFR's throughout the rpm range?
