Default Vin # help

Hello all,
I want to run a Carfax on a potential purchase. I have the vin # starting with 930, but aren't there some digits before that WPO(XXXX) it is a '77.
Thanks,
Tom

Go by the numbers on the drivers side door jamb sticker and the metal tag riveted to the driver side A piller, or title.
The numbers stamped into the sheet metal next to the smuggler box are usually different.

But I haven't been able to physically see the car yet. Can anybody tell me what those first few digits SHOULD be?

Tom, unfortunately you won't be able to check that car on Carfax. They need 17 digits for the VIN and Porsche didn't start this numbering system until around 1980.

I wish Carfax would allow us to check these earlier Porsche's.

The first 3 digits should be 930 on a 1977 930.

Maybe have somebody local look it over first then a PPI.

Good luck on your purchase.
