Default 996 Brakes

Hi there,

Are the 996 Carrera calipers a worthwhile upgrade over the stock 930 brakes?
I have been waiting and searching for the 928S4 calipers, but they are hard to find and pricey.
Your input would be greatly appreciated

I have the S4 brakes up front and the stock fronts moved to the rear. Works great on the street.

People have said that the rotor (brake disc) will now be my problem at the track. If the 996 upgrade doesn't include bigger rotors then there probably not going to be that great.

I tried the 928S4 calipers for the track. They put way too much heat in the stock 930 rotors and I have the brake ducting.

The 993TT calipers and rotors made a big difference. Getting the rotor cryoed really helped with longevity as well.

I've not heard the 996 caliper mentioned as an option (or don't remember it).

I was kinda thinking that the 996 is probably nowhere near as heavy as the S4 anyway...

Ok. I guess I will keep searching or try to master these brakes the way the race drivers of old did. But they are damn scary over 200kph, locking-up with the front end shifting side to side. I am told this is normal.
Is it?

Have you had your car corner balanced?

I was braking hard at Snetterton at 120mph in my 911 and it was fine AFAIK. I also had a professional instructor drive my car and I asked him many times if he thought it needed anything. He said my car was faster in the corners than a 944turbo that was there that day.

I have only in car footage at Snetterton.

Sounds like bump steer. Try raising the car a bit or get some rack adjusters.
