Headers are supposed to drop lag by 300rpm and also knock over half a second off of throttle lag.

nathanUK- yep, headers are on the list. i'm going to try to be sensible this time around and do roll bar, seats and harness first. i've already priced out thickest sway bars i can find with my mechanic and will do them at the time of lowering and alignment, then i'm thinking IA Stage 2 (K27, B&B headers, exhaust, longneck intercooler, etc). At that point, I think it'll be an absolute treat.

I guess that's what I am doing, stage2. I went with the HFS turbo though.

How does your car feel with all those mods? I have never driven a 930 but when I was a young kid my friend's dad had one. He took us for a ride once and I remember being blown away. That was stock.

I think I'm done with huge hp cars. I find that I'm the limiting factor on the track, not power. I'm hoping that the headers/intercooler and 5 speed will help me keep the car on boost so it'll be a little more driveable on the track. I was going to buy a 964 with 3.8 motor which I'm sure would have been a little better for the track but I can't get over the widebody turbos, I just love them.

My 930 is still in pieces.

You know, you may be better to buy the engine you want rather than spend money on the turbo engine. I'm looking forward to the big turbo power. I have my 3.2 carrera for razor sharp throttle response.

Oh, btw the 5 speed you have still has the gears quite spaced. My 930 has a G50/01 from a late carrera so the gears are really close. Actually mine feels like 5th could be a little higher as 4th and 5th is a little too close for street use and that was with a stock engine. Maybe you could change the R&P, I'm not sure.

You know, I really don't notice the lag much at all, or it's become so small that it's really not significant. Of course, trying to remember how the lag was prior to all the stuff I did to my 930 is kinda hard. All I know is that the car came alive with better turbo, muffler, intercooler, wastegate and...for those special days...adjustable boost. Oh, and don't forget to take off the CAT and hang it on a nail in the shop. That alone made a large difference. I haven't yet added the final touch (headers), and may not 'cause it's a chore to do. The car gets on boost quickly, and once there lags for maybe a second between shifts. I'm satisfied, but of course more is always better

I second Mark's comments regarding CAT removal. A few months back I purchased a prototype muffler from a member over on the Pelican site that was on his RSR Turbo. In fact, there is a picture of Paul's car on the Lindseyracing site in the wheels section. So far it's the only mod but what a difference! The sound alone is intoxicating.

Okay, I am one happy camper! I cheaped out and had it shipped on an open trailer but the driver was awesome and had it all buried between cars. He loved the car. It was filthy when it got here so I immediately (before the driver of the transport even pulled away) started washing her. With the exception of some very age-appropriate paint chips on the front end, the body is absolutely gorgeous. Man does the black make those curves look sexy. All the rubber is in great shape as are the window moldings. Interior is probably only a little above average (I compare everything to my Carrera which looks like it could have come off the showroom floor last week even with its 129,000 miles) but I already bought a set of Sparco seats, Sparco steering wheel, and a DAS rollbar from a fellow Rennlister and they should be coming along soon. Once that stuff arrives I will be dropping it off to my P-car guy to have those items installed as well as to install beefed up sway bars and to have the car lowered and aligned.

I only had time to drive around the block but everything felt great and the power was substantial compared to my 3.2 Carrera even in stock form which, by the way, will NEVER BE SOLD!!!

Really didn't have time to get any pics that do the car justice so I owe you all. Here's a preview....sorry they suck.

Can't believe I own a 930!!!

Congrats! Enjoy the car and have fun with her. Btw, I love the 3.6 turbo wheels.

Man, I can't tell you how it feels to see her in someone else's garage like that!

I'm sure you'll take good care of her.

Ron- I'm sure its hard to part with such a great car but I can assure you that she'll be well taken car of and driven like she deserves. I took the car to work today and thoroughly enjoyed the drive.

Ironically, on my way home, I stopped by the post office and parked next to a gorgeous black 996tt (like the one I just sold). License plate said "Racy" and seemed quite appropriate for the attractive blond woman driving it. I took the liberty of recommending that she join us local PCAers at the track

Here are a couple more pics from this afternoon, including one of the stallmate.... guess I need to update my avatar as well. Someone pinch me, I have an '88 Carrera and now an '89 930!
