Exciting day....
Well, I did it. Found a very nice looking black on beige 1989 turbo with 72,000 miles over on Pelican. Almost bone stock. PPI went well (leakdowns all less than 2%!) so I had them do a complete 15k service while things were accesible and I bought the car.
Getting loaded on the transporter today and hope to have it in my garage by early next week. I can't even sleep. Will post pictures when she arrives.

Ooh, you bought an 89! You are gonna love that G50 tranny. I sold my 79 and bought a 91 965 and that G50 is soooo smooth and the clutch is relatively light. The 5 speed makes city driving a much better experience. Congrats on the purchase!

Yep, bought Ron's car. I'll post pics when it arrives. I already have a 1988 G50 Carrera, can't wait for the extra power (and braking). I'm sure it won't be long before the mods start, when I sold my twin turbo it was making over 600hp.
Thanks for the affirmation of my decision.

Thanks all. Hoping to hear from the transport company tomorrow about when it should arrive.
9thiry- do you ever track your car? I was out at PIR in my M3 this weekend (with NASA) but really prefer PCA DE events... I think PCAers are a little more apt to take care of their (and your) cars. I had a great time anyway and their were some cool Porsches running.
Looking forward to trying the 930 on the track but a little nervous about the boost lag. I hear a longneck intercooler and headers are helpful.
