Default any real world experience with brembo gtp-lightweight brake upgrade

I fancy myself rather saavy at searching thru archives and not asking stupid questions, but i give up. I need to upgrade my 76 turbo brakes. I would like to stick with 16 fuchs and am apparently stuck with either the 78+ calipers vs. a gtp-l kit. I would put the 78 calipers and rotors on the vehicle, however, they do not appear to be a direct bolt on as i have plain old carrera s brakes. WIth this being the case, does anyone have real world experience with the newest gtp-l kit, first does it fit under our 7 inch and 9 inch fuchs, second is the braking as good or better than the 930 78+ brakes. I would assume with some advances in braking over the past 30 years that these calipers are as good or better than the 78s.

Is the Brembo gtp kit the same thing as the Boxster brakes?

If so, the '78 turbo brakes are better for track use but also will add some unsprung weight to your car. For street use, Boxster brakes are fine and don't add any weight. They are also new, not refurbished.

I dont know about the boxster brakes anymore, when i spoke with some brake gurus, they are no longer recommending the boxster upgrade, basically too much caliper and not enough rotor. The gtp kit utilizes a floating rotor upfront and a fixed rotor in the rear to maintain the ebrake. the fronts are 4 piston 313 x 28 and the rears are 305 x 28. The oem 78+ 930 brakes are smaller in diameter, but the gtp kit requires at least 16 in wheels. For the money i am pricing compared to quotes of the 930 upgrade kit, i think the gtp lightweight kit is the way to go.

What you need to do is call Steve at http://www.rennsportsystems.com/. I talked to him a year ago about my 930 brakes for a long time and he gave a lot of very useful information. This guy knows his stuff, he's honest, and he's helpful. I'm still waiting to get my 930 back from ImagineAuto, but when I do, I'll probably order brakes from him. BTW, I'm going with the full GTP kit because I have 17 inch wheels, I don't know personally about the light kit. However... this is from memory so excuse me if I get things wrong. I think the regular GTP kit uses "F50" calipers in the front and "lotus" calipers in the rear (designations for different brembo calipers), so these are pretty standard and proven calipers (light too!). The "light" kit uses Lotus front I think. So then you just need to check the fitment of your particular kit and whether the front rear bias is ideal.

Oh yeah, on the website I gave it says you need 944 offset front fuchs. So stock 7X16 front 930 wheels won't work.

Who did you talk to that is a brake guru? I would like to know about the gtp kit myself.

Do you have any internet links to this brake kit?

i briefly spoke with steve at rennsport and vehiclecraft, steve was very pleasant and helpful. I just want some info and the best lightweight kit that will fit under the 16s. I would hope that 30 years of technology would yield calipers that are lighter and better than the original offering 930s. I also like the idea of not having to take a 930 caliper and bastardize it to fit my 76. If i had a 78+, i would probably be content and add cooling, stainless lines, good pads and new fluid and be very happy.

There are a few guys over on pelican running the GTP full size and LW kits, also a few of those cars have been recently featured in Excellence.

Does anyone know how big of a difference the offset is.
