930 Paint color dilemma?
79' 930 i have had the car media blasted (no rust or body repairs needed). i'm going back as original as possible with the intent to sell, my thought is since there is no original paint anywhere on the car any more should i paint an other color then the black it was for a more sellable color if there is one. Which is my second question what color ? any thoughts

When I was recently shopping for a 930, I was looking for any color but Black, or Guards Red. This was because it seemed to me that 9 times out of 10, when you see a 930, its one of those colors and I wanted something different. I think everyone will tell you that they have the best color. Mine is Minerva Blue.

I guess I'm kinda partial to white. Actually, had I had the patience to wait until a black 930 came along that met my approval, I would have waited. But, white is what I ended up with and I can't say I'm sorry. Much better at hiding dirt and any imprefections, and it's a proven fact that white slides through the air easier!!
In my opinion (for what it's worth) there are only 3 colors for a 930: #1 black, #2 red, #3 white. I've seen too many red Porsches to where they're losing their appeal, not enough white ones, and black will always be my favorite.
Repainting is something I'm not looking to do. I would rather keep the car's stock color for authenticity purposes.

I'd say Grand Prix White is a great color, but I'm partial to Black as well, just a different kind than most :bigthumb:
Another thought here is what wheel setup are you using? Certain colors look better with period correct/updated parts.
Modded 930: Black with larger rims, lowered and sport seats/ Recaro SRD's
Stock: Pearl Orange or Mettalic Brown (rare colors) but you have to use Fuchs with these.

Unless you had the entire car,ie;engine bay, underside, trunk and the enterior you should go with the original color. Its not nice to pull up the carpet and see another color.

If I were painting to sell, yeah, black or red. But like another poster said, they look good but nine of ten 930s are black or red. So for me personally, given a blank slate like you have, I'd go for non-metallic gray. To me this is the ultimate. Check out this one of kind 964 3.6.
