Guys, these headers do offer value and I am the first one to say that I have bought them and tested them. However, believe it or not most of us are just buying these headers and taking them to your indy and having them install them. Many times with a new turbocharger that has my name on it. Guess what.. It doesn't live long. Rocket's picture is reproduced many times a month, I'm sad to say.. It's a pain in the ***, repairing these units that shouldn't have this damage. Heed my warning, don't rely on the Indy to spend the time to clean the headers. Please pay attention to the O2 sensor bung. They have ground away a portion of the bung. When the new O2 sensor is threaded in, material/threads break off and pass into the hot side of the turbo.

If possible.. Clean and re-clean.. Pass rags thru the primaries, you'll be amazed at the crud/metal/grinding dingle berries and more. I then use a Dawn dish soap and a baby bottle brush that is modded to pass thru the primaries (you can only pass it so far).. Install your old turbo and put some miles on the headers.

BTW, these issues aren't isolated to just foreign made units..

Hello Kevin,

would you realy recomend putting the O2 sensor before the turbo in this bung?
Or is it to put your US original O2 sensor in there?
Here we tend to put our wideband O2 behind the turbo.

regards

The 965 has is pre-turbo..

However, mounting your wideband 6 to 8" post turbo is spot on/pre muffler.

Rather than meticulously attempting to clean all of the grit, weld spatter, debris, and what have you from inside these headers, I'd recommend having them extrude honed. It will cost a bit more, though you are still saving a ton over a typical expensive set of headers. While I would still check for debris after extrude honing (I think it would be pretty much impossible for any to remain), it will smooth things out considerably and should clear up 99.9% of the problem. To me this seems a much easier route and for a complete set of headers I don't believe it should cost more than ~$200-300 maybe.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase your OBX headers from? I'd like to try them out too...
