Geoffrey, I thought about that last night after signing off. No, it doesn't make sense.
I thought the 3.2 and 3.3 could use the same rod bearings. I was told by SRP that they didn't make their racing bearings for the 3.3. Water under the bridge now, but I don't think I spoke with the right person.

Who do you want to believe..a guy who goes 2000 miles a year...50% of that on a tow truck...or someone who drives a 930 20,000 miles a year...year after year.?
I put over 20k miles on my 930 last year on synth oil (so I guess you can believe me). I've also used synth oil in every porsche I've owned since 1983, and they were all daily drivers, (well over 100k miles on one of them), in fact, i've used synth in every car i've owned including my lawnmowers since 83! Never ever a problem. I've also sent the oil out for anaylsis for the last 3 oil changes from the 930, just out of curiosity. No bearing wear whatso ever.

I've talked to some of the older guys (older then me!) and yes I hear them swear by mineral based oil, but that's what they grew up with, nothing more.

Tim, on your fuel analysis, how was the fuel dilution levels? With the exception of Mobil 1 Extended Performance, I have had similar experiences with oil as you have had.

I'll go back and look, but I called them last week to ask several questions. 1) How was the viscosity - reply: was very little change to no change, that I could continue to use the oil if I wanted. 2) engine/bearing wear - reply: none. 3) Was there any evidence of fuel in oil to dilute or alter viscosity - reply: no

Looking at the Analysis, it shows the fuel present was less than 1% per Parts Per Million. If I read it correctly, which is why I called them!

There conclusion was to continue to use the oil. But I changed it anyway.

I used to use M1 15/50, but switched to amsoil 20/50 racing about 23k miles ago.

I'm running a refurb 964 crank and is center drilled. It gives me an extra mm on stroke, but I also have custom JE pistons so it would fit the rest of the 930 specs. The extra mm plus the 8.0:1 CR works great for me, specifically on low end. This engine is producing 525 hp, 505 torque, at 1 bar at the rear wheels.

Don..

So with the increase in stroke, you had to move the wristpin further towards the crown correct? What size pins 22 or 23mm, which rod 3.3 or 3.6.. and are you still 3.3 or 3.4 on bore?

Just curious as I have a spare motor with plans to build as EFI..
Still need:
machine work
Proper hardware
Pistons (98mm)
Decision on cams
Decision and purchase of ECU etc..

Sorry to go off topic guys...
