Default 965 IC on 930 problem

Hello,

have just recieved my 965 IC from ebay auction.
Price was fine, 200 GBP.

I tryed to testfit the IC today, only a short test truly
as my IC is off anyway. But from first look I can
say its not fitting.

It seems as the IC outlet is not fitting.

Are there different 965 ICs?
What have you discoverd installing 965 IC on your 930s?

In addition to the new brackets and up pipe you will have to fab or purchase, I believe you will need a new air cleaner. I could not get mine to fit until I pulled the stock air cleaner. I am assuming that you have already removed the stock diverter assembly? The 965 unit is a longneck unit whereas the 930 originally uses a shortneck set up.

Ok, seems thats the first thing to do, thanks.
Brackets is no big problem.
As I have a tube bending machine, the UPpipe
should be no big problem too.

Removing the diverter means I need a new bypass valve,
correct? Anyone has the Bosch part number?

thanks so far

Yes new air cleaner as well as you will have to loose the AC condensor and rear wiper. Also the side brackets, studs and front support bracket all need to be changed. There is a fiar amount of work to get it to fit.

Regarding the amount of work, I am not afraid on,
as I can do all in well equiped shop.

But isnt the 965 IC one of the most effective ICs
and one of the best solutions for CIS?
At least that was my impression searching the
specific forums.

I have a 964 intercooler on my 930, mine fits with the original airbox in place, just had to loose the aircon and rear wiper, oh and use the 964 rubber hose to connect turbo to intercooler. you'll have to fabricate brackets to mount it though

Don't know if these pics help? You can see one of the brackets mounting onto the intake manifold

Thats what I like on this forum,
always helpfull and informative.

Truly, I had seen some C2 IC threats before
here, but had problems to refind them.
Only I remembered that a C2 cooler is a nice solution.

Surprisingly I found this 200 GBP one in UK.
By far the cheapest IC for my car I`ve ever seen.

Now after all this info, this job is much more easy.

Thanks Gentleman!

Found a few more, some with the intercooler off so you can see the brackets, they aren't very good brackets, infact the welding looks like it's held together with bird ****! But you should get the idea, there's one of the engine in the car and you can see the stock airbox in place

Certain years of air cleaners will hit the intercooler. The ridge runs into the back.

As you know Steven i know bugger all really, just sharing my experience!

Falk, i actually have Steven's air intake on my car now, it really clears up space in the engine bay, very good modification, makes getting at the WUR etc very easy. If you stick with the stock airbox and yours doesn't fit then i have mine in a box in the garage, no idea what they are worth, probably very little but it's available if you want it, it has a K&N filter in it too. Mines a euro 87 model so if yours is the same then you won't need it anyway, maybe Stephen knows what years fit and which don't?

Steven, could you PM me at some point, i've called and left messages and sent e-mails but not heard back from you, cheers

In which case mate you'll be fine!
You got a real bargin with that intercooler at £200! 9m (ninemeister) charged me £1000 for mine, it's JamesE's old intercooler, they only passed on £500 to him though which is nice
