Problem with cars like this is that owners never get back what they put into them..........you can buy a really nice 965 with similar mileage for around $55-60K USD.......you can also buy a 996TT for $55-65K......makes it tough to get more than mid to high 40's IMHO.......when there are lots of other 1978-1985 model year 930's out there for $30-40K.
Sure sounds nice though.

Thanks for the responses. Ill post back once the price is set by the owner.
My father owns a 68 912 (since 1971) and he is looking for an additional "fun" car to drive. The car I posted info about is close by and the shop that rebuilt the 930 works on his 912 now so he is more than comfortable with the car and condition.

If everything checks out after an incredibly detailed Porsche PPI inspection from a really good Porsche mechanic, feel free to pay a little more than strict market value for a car that you know a lot about.
I would advise against overpaying if you didn't know the previous owner, but I am going under the assumption that you do? If so, than pay what you consider reasonable knowing that you will need to sit on the car for another 5 years before seeing your money back.
But who knows, in ten years 930 values might go up quickly. I believe we are in a short term hump where values are tight, but that eventually these will be seen as real collector cars. They are fun cars.
If you plan on keeping the car, then the value is really up to your dad AS LONG AS you know everything there is to know about the car ahead of time. And remember, this is a car that needs to stay in a garage and recieve tender loving care, including the occasional mechanical glitches. It is not an ideal daily driver, but will be fine if you keep up with the maintenance stuff which pops up on any old car.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm not looking for a daily driver. Only one that I can drive only to club events and have a lot of fun. I have had my 912 for 37 years and now I want a car with a little more guts.
