Its hard to say a price every ECU has a differnt cost. Then you have install price and dyno tuning.. There are two guys in south Fl that can do the job with DTA systems. I'm looking at 5k but I'm changing my EFI from tec2 to DTA. Someone else may have better numbers for you. As Hp gains I have no idea my motor was built for more power vs stock.

I have seen mention of $20,000 and up wards to go EFI plus the required engine mods to make the HP gains one would expect from the conversion. I guess you could just convert a standard motor and the price would be much lower but why would you do it? A CIS motor can handle 100 more HP and a whole lot cheaper.

Having just finished mine, I agree with Rudy. The number Stephen gave you are for the EFI conversion, not the HP gains you would expect and desire. CIS is good to about 375-400 rwhp. You will need more work to go further. What kind of power do you want, and what do you want to do with the car? Knowing those two things will get you a better answer.

I have recently done a Motec M48 conversion but the costs are so intertwined with other items done while in there that it would be a somewhat time consuming task to start dissecting the invoice.
However, just roughly I would estimate the Motec conversion by itself with all the Motec catalog items plus harnessing, sensors, coils and injectors to have been $8-9k. That would be before adding on costs for the 3.2 manifold, throttle body, fuel rails etc.

I'm converting my 930 using the 3.2L intake/fuel system/harness and DME. Then I'm converting to MAF (blow through) and wasted spark. I'm doing the installation and tuning myself. I doubt I'll be done for less than $4-5K. DTA is a nice system, I didn't use it as I already had the Motronic hardware.
For some reason, the EFI conversion starts things rolling fast. Now I'm upgrading the heads to 3.2L heads and while in there why not upgrade the cams and springs, new turbo, headers and ...
I can see how the budget can hit $20K once you start.

I will be in 27,000 neighborhood. I should get car back next week, expecting 520-550 at wheels on pump gas.

The costs of the ECU, Sensors, wiring harness, connectors, and ignition system for twin plug is going to range from 6-10k depending on which components you use. This does not include any hardware modification such as porting, 3.2 Manifold or ITBs, intercooler, or turbo changes.

Seems like the going price for the above power level on pump gas. My total engine related expense (excluding tranny related items & work) was $25,747.08. Had I done the full bay IC and bigger throttle body job as well I probably would have been at around $27k due to the additional cost somewhat offset by costs due to lots of fitting modification to my existing IC.

I think people are shocked when they find out how much this cost. Sure, there is a ECU, some sensors, but there are so many things that people forget, all the LK connectors, Milspec connectors, adapters for the fuel lines, wiring changes, ignition, pulleys, flywheels. Blocking off old ports on the standard intake, making the intake work (3.2 intake) The harness alone can take 10 hours to build if it is done right and typically is 1500 to 2000 alone. The time and cost is a factor. For those that have done their own conversions know it is not that simple. What happens when you have an issue. DO you have a scope to read the sensors that are in question? The tool alone to make the crimps on the harness is 350.00. By the time you complete the job, if you do it right you loose your rear. Look at DonE, his early systems cost him several motors. In the end you must choose wisely and do your research. It is a great modification but requires a lot of thought and work.

Jerry, unless others are interested, we can take it off line.

Modifiying the cis will get you in the 350 -400 whp range, but it does not drive anywhere near the same as an EFI setup.
