Default 930 Crank vs 3.2 Crank

Input please on the reliability of using the 3.2 n/a crank in a 930 rebuild. I know the crank will fit but have recieved conflicting info as to durability. Planned EFI conversion. Thanks, wayne

Wayne, they are the same crank. They have two minor details, distributor gear rotation, and the carrera has a dowel pin for the flywheel to more accurately locate the flywheel for the ecu/crank sensor.

Both cranks offer interesting options if you decide to get different pistons. Turbobrat had his crank stroked, but the cool part was the shop was able to offset the journals to not only stroke it, but he can now use readily available and cheaper Chevy bearings. If you convert to EFI, most likely you'll use a crank position sensor so there is no need for a dist.

Until you do go EFI, you can use the correct dizzy drive. Just swap it out.
